Someone on Reddit just shared what might be the most wholesome AI story of the year.
A farmer decided to use Claude for an entire growing season. Not for one task. For everything. Starting from zero technical knowledge.
He started in March planning his greenhouse for sweet potato seedlings using the Claude app and a project folder. Then he discovered connectors. Then CoWork. Then Claude Code.
Claude convinced him to set up sensors.
By the end of the season he had built a harness that pulls live weather data and gives him watering and fertilizer recommendations based on real conditions. He had Excel spreadsheets, custom apps for time and data tracking, cron jobs, and data analysis pipelines all running on his farm.
He is not a developer. Claude had to explain to him what a terminal is.
Here is what the season produced:
More data collected than any previous growing season. More plants produced from the greenhouse. More sweet potatoes in the field. More laughs while getting his hands dirty than ever before.
He said: "I have learned more from Claude in a year than I ever thought possible, and I am pretty proud of that."
The part that gets me is that he described the season as having a blast. Not grinding through a technical learning curve. Actually enjoying the process, joking around with Claude between tasks, and feeling proud of what he built step by step.
This is what AI actually looks like when it works the way it is supposed to.
