At INFOSEC 2026, COMMTEL and Cisco took the stage for an insightful Fireside Chat on “You Can’t Ban It. So Secure It: Governing AI Without Killing Productivity.”

The conversation was led by Asher Faisel Khan CEO COMMTEL and Kashif UlHaque Country General Manager Cisco, who shared perspectives on how organisations can embrace AI while maintaining the right balance between security, governance, and innovation.

This Independence Day, COMMTEL spent time with the residents of the Binte Fatima Foundation in Bara Kahu, Islamabad. For two decades, the Foundation has provided shelter, care, and support to elderly women and mothers without family assistance across its branches in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.

During our visit, we met with Mr. Hassan, son of the Foundation’s founder, Ms. Farzana, to learn more about their daily work and listen to the ongoing needs of the care home.

Above all, the day was about human connection. We shared an Independence Day cake, sat together, and listened to heartwarming stories of the mothers under the Foundation’s care. In stepping away from our routine to offer a bit of companionship, we found ourselves receiving far more in return - a deep sense of warmth, perspective, and gratitude drawn from their quiet strength and resilience.

For COMMTEL, Independence Day is a time to reflect on our responsibility to the broader community and this visit was a reminder that giving back is never a one-way path; the simple act of listening and sharing our time fills our own hearts in ways words can rarely capture.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Binte Fatima Foundation for welcoming us into their home and letting us share in such a meaningful day with their residents.

COMMTEL is proud to collaborate with the HEC Pakistan to deliver a three-day Smart training program under the Smart University Project Training.

The training is being conducted simultaneously across four main locations, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar, along with multiple remote sites.

This nationwide initiative is designed to equip approximately 150 participants with globally recognized networking knowledge and practical skills, strengthening the technical capabilities needed to build, manage, and secure modern digital infrastructure across Pakistan’s higher education sector.

Mr. Ziyad Mehtab, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at COMMTEL, welcomed Prof Dr Zia Ul Haq S.I, Executive Director, HEC. The session was also attended by Mr. Naeem Ahmed, Director (PERN), HEC, Engr. Touqeer Khalid, Assistant Director (PERN), HEC, Cisco trainer Mr. Atif, and representatives from participating universities.
