Your child already knows how to use an app. The bigger question is: can they make one?
We put together 8 free websites where kids stop scrolling and start building. Each one ends with something real: a game, a circuit, an app or an AI model they trained themselves.
🧩 Scratch (ages 8–16): https://scratch.mit.edu
💻 CodeAI, formerly Code.org (ages 4+): https://code.org
🐢 Blockly Games (ages 8+): https://blockly.games
🔌 Tinkercad Circuits (ages 10+): https://www.tinkercad.com/circuits
📡 Wokwi (ages 12+): https://wokwi.com
🤖 Teachable Machine (ages 8+, with an adult): https://teachablemachine.withgoogle.com
📱 MIT App Inventor (ages 10+): https://appinventor.mit.edu
🧠 Machine Learning for Kids (ages 8+): https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk
How to start: pick one site, sit with your child for the first 20 minutes, then ask them to show you what they made and how it works. That last question is where the real learning happens.
Swipe through the slides for a first project to try on each site. Save this post for the weekend and share it with a parent who'd find it useful.
Want this kind of learning in your child's school? ITEC takes students in Grades 1–8 from block coding to programming, AI and robotics. Tell your school about us: https://thetechnoknowledge.com or WhatsApp https://wa.me/923458205013
