The world map we all know is WRONG!

We have been mislead for 500 years since a German cartographer made the world map we know today. At that time, European cartographers observed that the map can be used to make certain areas like (the US mainland and) Europe much larger, giving an illusion of power and importance attributed to its size. Areas like Africa are shown to be much smaller than they truly are.

Reason: "In our society, we unconsciously equate size with importance and even power.“

Issue: A sphere cannot be represented on a flat plane without distortion, which means all map projections are distorted in one way or another.

Map: Here is an example of the Gall-Peters projection map, which tries to address these projection issues and gives equal-area map projection.
