Hub Power Company (HUBCO) says its BYD vehicle assembly plant in Pakistan remains on track to begin production in December 2026, dismissing concerns about delays.

The facility, developed in partnership with Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, is expected to target initial sales of 1,000 to 1,500 vehicles per month as production ramps up.

The plant will initially have an annual production capacity of 25,000 vehicles, with plans to expand to 50,000. It will rely on imported components at first, while HUBCO aims to gradually increase local content to as much as 80%, reducing dependence on imports.

The project is expected to create more than 1,100 jobs and support Pakistan’s growing automotive and electric vehicle industry.

Founded by Haseeb Ansari after his own home was flooded, the company is trying to turn everyday water problems into practical solutions for households, farmers and hospitals.

Its FloodGuard product is designed to act as a temporary barrier against floodwater. The company says a bag weighing around 300 grams can absorb fresh water and expand to 15–20 kilograms within three to five minutes.

Paani+ also offers GrowMate+, a soil treatment designed to retain irrigation water, and MediSorb products that help absorb and contain liquid spills in healthcare settings.
