Heard the news of FBR suggesting taxes on Freelancers, and calling the tax fraud a billion dollar "mega scam". Let me just give you my insight on this whole matter.
"mega scam"? How?
We provide services on foreign websites, so according to your own logic when you sanctioned PUBG Mobile for selling services recently. We should be paying them the taxes not the other way around.
Do we pay them taxes? Yes ofcourse
Freelancer.com charge us fee about 20% on every milestone
Fiverr charges 35%
Upwork similar percentage.
When we withdraw, we get USD 5 rupees less than the market.
When the amount reaches our bank account, we withdraw from ATM, we pay fees there as well.
I am not saying you should not charge taxes, but you must know the business model before sanctioning them. We are selling services here as a whole and than brining money into this country. And we will still get sanctioned.
If you want to impose tax, first account for the tax we have already given. And show us where you invested that tax in our field? For us to give you more tax. Or just create your own freelancing platform to let foreigners come to it and deal with us. Than we will happily give you the tax you ask for.
