Moving from Magento to WooCommerce?
The biggest mistake is treating it like a data transfer.
Products, customers and orders are the visible part.
The store around them decides how launch day goes:
→ Custom functionality
→ ERP / CRM connections
→ Payment gateways and saved payment methods
→ Shipping and tax systems
→ Customer accounts
→ SEO, URLs and redirects
→ Checkout and order workflows
A few things that catch teams off guard:
Magento customer passwords often can't be carried over as-is, so plan for a reset or a custom approach.
Saved payment methods usually depend on your payment provider, so they need provider-specific handling.
Custom Magento functionality doesn't automatically become WooCommerce functionality. Each piece is replaced, configured or custom-built.
That's why we think of a migration in four parts:
MOVE → products, customers, orders
REBUILD → integrations, workflows, custom features
PROTECT → SEO, payments, customer experience
TEST → checkout, orders, integrations
At Seerox, every migration starts with an audit, not with development.
The goal isn't "we moved the Magento store."
It's "we moved the business without breaking the experience."
Which part gets underestimated most: rebuild, protect or test?
