ToolEase – RFID-Based Tool Leasing & Inventory System is now complete
Managing tools in workshops, laboratories, or makerspaces can quickly become difficult when equipment is constantly borrowed and returned. Tool tracking systems help organizations manage inventory, monitor usage, and reduce the risk of lost equipment.
This project introduces ToolEase, an open-source RFID-based tool leasing and inventory management system designed for environments where tools are frequently shared—such as educational labs, fabrication labs, and industrial workshops.
With RFID technology and automation, ToolEase allows users to easily borrow, return, and track tools while maintaining a centralized inventory record.
Key concepts behind the system:
• RFID-based tool identification
• Automated borrowing and returning process
• Real-time inventory tracking
• Designed for makerspaces, laboratories, and workshops
• Open-source and customizable for different environments
Projects like this show how embedded systems, RFID technology, and software development can improve organization and efficiency in shared workspaces.
