6 Tarlac PUIs tested negative of nCoV
THE Central Luzon Regional Department of Health [DoH] office and the Regional Research Institute for Tropical Medicine [RITM[ revealed today [February 5] that the six patients who were classified as Person Under Investigation [PUI] of the dreaded Novel Coronavirus [nCoV] were tested negative from the virus.
The Nano/Oropharyngeal swab samples of the six, who were confined to the different hospitals in the province, were sent for testing yesterday afternoon [February 4].
Governor Susan Yap is thankful upon learning of the result of the swab tests and is assuring Tarlaqueños that all measures needed to contain the spread of the virus is being strictly implemented and followed.
“We are following the DoH protocol in containing the virus. I am thankful that the results were negative,” Gov. Yap said adding that, “We are very careful to the statements we release because we want to be very accurate and not cause any confusion or panic.”
A press conference called by the lady governor scheduled at 2:30 in the afternoon today [February 5] to formally announce the results.
Meanwhile, The Provincial Health Office-Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit [PESU] who received the result of the swab test from RITM obtained from the six PUIs said that as of today, the province of Tarlac is still free from nCoV.
However, the PHO-PESU is monitoring another single case who travelled to Myanmar and had a lay-over in Hong Kong. According to the PHO-PESU, the swab specimen of the said new PUI will be sent to RITM this afternoon.---PIO
