Hey Warriors!
Itโs election season again here at our university. It can be a confusing time and we're here in the hopes of clearing things out on our end. We would like to provide brief context on two past events USC Warrior's Arena has worked on: the 2019 USC Days Esports: Warriors Arena Championship and the 2020 Vamos Cup.
USC Warrior's Arena has been officially hosting USC Days esports since 2018 โ yes, weโve been doing it even before the organization has been officially recognized by the former Office of Student Affairs and with the help of the now-defunct Dynamic Communication Society (DYNACOM).
The 2019 intramurals featured an esports tournament we as an organization handled called the Warriorโs Arena Championship (WAC). WAC featured a variety of titles (e.g. League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and etc.) in which the different schools in our university participated. We approached the Supreme Student Council (SSC) to ask for assistance in printing out certificates and a subsidy for our trophies and other awards โ which we were graciously provided. They also promised to link us with an internet service provider and tarpaulins but was canceled due to said internet service provider backing out at the last moment.
The entirety of WAC was handled by us from paperwork, internet cafe reservations, player registrations, bracketing, marshaling, streaming, and etc. โ save for the awarding ceremonies as the SSC allowed us to do it with them during the 2019 Warriorโs Fest.
There has also been a fuss about the 2020 Vamos Cup โ the esports tournament for the 2020 intramurals.
As stated in the Facebook post of the Computer and Information Sciences Council (CISCO), Vamos Cup was made possible by the collaborations from our organization, CISCO, the Collegiate Engineering Council (CEC), the Computer Engineering Council (CPE), and the SSC.
If you are interested in the CISCO statement, hereโs a link to that:

We suggested a collaboration โ as those aforementioned entities approached us at different times โ in order to avoid scheduling conflicts from each other and as well avoid mass confusion as to which tournament should Carolinian esports athletes play in. It is worth noting that the SSC initially only had Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in mind and thus their contributions to the Vamos Cup mostly fall under the said game.
Nevertheless, we do not aim to discredit nor defame anyone but only wish to inform the Carolinian voters about the context of the SSC resolutions regarding esports in USC Days as it may help them to decide on who to vote for next. After all, USC Warriorโs Arena was founded in order to help our fellow Carolinian esports athletes and weโll gladly accept all the help that we can get to support gaming and esports in our university.
As responsible gamers that we ourselves are, we also have to be responsible voters and so we encourage everyone to vote wisely this coming SSC election!
