If you're not sure what skill to offer as a freelancer, ask yourself:

🟡 What am I already good at?
🟡 What do people often ask me for help with?
🟡 What kind of tasks do I enjoy doing?

Then build from there.

Here’s the good news: you don’t need to be an expert yet.

You just need to start with one valuable skill and get really good at it.

Freelancing allows you to grow as you go.

This is how my first-ever work station looked as a FREELANCER. . .

I didn't have a high-end PC.
I worked on graphics using my slow 2014 laptop.
I didn't have a fancy room to set up my office table.

I just had FAITH and DETERMINATION to keep going.

It's now 5 years since deciding to start, and looking back, I have already made a lot of progress.

This is your sign to not wait for the PERFECT time, the PERFECT equipment, or the PERFECT skill/service.

All you need to do is START making progress.

To be honest, I didn’t start freelancing with the “right” mindset.

There are days I don't feel like working, wala akong schedule to do my work, just doing it when I feel like it.

I didn't have a system in getting clients, apply lang ako ng apply and nasanay na magalmusal ng rejection.

I thought things will just fall into its place without me putting much effort in.

Spoiler alert: They didn’t. 😅

It takes DISCIPLINE and MINDSET for your freelancing to work.

🚫Walang magic, just pure grit and consistency.

So if you are a struggling freelancer or a starting one, here are some tips na I think very helpful in building a STRONG MINDSET 💪

1. Don't be afraid to start small

Lahat tayo nagstart as beginners. Don't let someone's chapter 100 discourage you from starting YOUR chapter 1. In short, need mo magtrabaho muna and wag matakot to start over if you want to be successful.

2. Don't be paralyzed by perfection

Progress over perfection. Minsan we don't take action because we want na perfect agad ung magagawa natin. We end up overthinking, daydreaming, instead of actually starting.

3. Always sell solutions, not just services or skills

One thing I learned sa mga courses and communities in freelancing, if you want to be seen as a PREMIUM freelancer, you need to SOLVE a PROBLEM, and this is what will set you apart from other freelancers.

4. Prioritize making connections

Connect and be visible. Not every connection will be a client, but every connection will lead you to a client.

5. Find your "sweet spot," a.k.a. "niche"

Mahirap mamili ng niche sa totoo lang pero once makapili ka, the clarity, the next action, where to find your clients will just naturally flow.

6. Get comfortable talking about money.

If you don't ask, the answer is always NO. The same goes with money and talking about your rates. If you want to build consistent income, you need to know your numbers.

7. Celebrate your wins, whether big or small

This is what will keep you going. Your wins are worth celebrating!

Freelancing is NOT easy, but remember:

You don’t need to have it all figured out to be successful. You just need to keep going.

You’ve got this. 💪

Life update🎉

It’s been a year since I last posted here . . .☕️

That means it’s also been a year since becoming a mom! (how time flies!)

Last week I’m blessed to be invited as a speaker for a seminar and it felt good to interact with students again. Channeling my teacher energy once in a while was a great icebreaker to my daily routine. ✨

If I’ll choose one side effect motherhood has done to me, it would be the fear of being seen.

I just wanted to hide and be safe in the little bubble I created with my daughter.

So for the longest time, I just post about her and overanalyze everything I wanted to post about myself.

This time around I want to stop overanalyzing and start showing up.

I’m keeping things SIMPLE.

Starting fresh and anew with this page as my personal blog.

Crossfingers you’ll be seeing more of me in this page posting about the things I’m passionate about: FREELANCING, MAMA LIFE, & EVERTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN.

See you around!

Honestly, I’m not really a “hard worker.”

I get overwhelmed when confronted with a pile of tasks.

I easily find ways to escape the things I need to do.

I end up procrastinating instead of tackling things right in the face.

I’m not the type to study 2 weeks in advance for an exam or finish a task one week before the deadline.

I was aware that I was like this ever since I was a student up until I became a teacher, and now a freelancer.

As the “achiever” type of person, I might pull off things as if everything was well organized or well prepared, but the truth is. . .

I needed to make things work while preserving my time and energy well.

When I became a FREELANCER, this was an obvious roadblock for me because I had the freedom and the time to prioritize things or to do them at my own pace.

I realized that if I wanted to succeed in this field, I needed to change the way I see and do things. . .

⚡️It’s not enough that I manage my TIME wisely, I also need to manage my ENERGY efficiently.

⚡️I cannot accomplish things if I just go with the flow and wing it, I need to follow a schedule and stick to a routine.

⚡️Procrastinating and waiting for something to happen won’t get me clients and projects, I need to put in the work.

How did it work for me? WORKING SMARTER, NOT HARDER

⚡️I found the RIGHT TOOLS that can help me stay organized and on top of my projects.

⚡️I created a SYSTEM that works for me, time blocking, batch creation, identifying roadblocks beforehand, getting rid of distractions, etc.

⚡️Lastly, DISCIPLINE coupled with consistency. I didn’t just rely on motivation, I made sure to show up and get it done every single day.

At the end of the day, if we really really really want to make something work, we should focus our mind and energy on finding WAYS rather than making EXCUSES.

Let me know if you can relate!

Are you the type of person who finds ways? Or do you always find yourself making excuses?
