Kids these days will never know the importance of 5 pesos for us OG gamers.

Back then, for old school gamers like us, 5 pesos meant everything.
In a computer shop that charged 20 pesos per hour, that small coin bought us 15 more minutes.
And those 15 minutes did not feel short at all. They felt like a gift.

Those were the minutes that could change everything.
We used them to finish a quest we had been stuck on all day.
We used them to farm the last few mobs we needed for a level up.
We used them to try our luck one more time with an upgrade that might finally succeed.

Those moments carried a different kind of thrill.
It was not just about gaming.
It was about making the most out of what little we had.
When time was limited, our focus was sharper.
Our excitement was real.
Every second felt important.

There was a little rush in our chest when we heard the timer beep.
And when the timekeeper finally said
“Time is up”
we suddenly found the courage to say
“Ya, extend 5 pesos pa.”

The person waiting for our seat would scratch their head and accept their fate.
They had to wait another 15 minutes because we were not ready to let go of the game.

Today, gaming is always accessible.
There are PCs at home.
There are mobile phones everywhere.
People can play anytime, pause anytime, and continue anytime.
And I am happy that it is easier now.

But nothing will ever replace the adrenaline of extending 5 pesos.
The heartbeat.
The urgency.
The joy of squeezing every drop of fun from those last 15 minutes.

Those tiny moments shaped us more than we realized.
