Pansamantalang ipinagbawal ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) ang paglahok sa anumang aktibidad ng liga ng mga miyembro ng Ateneo de Manila University coaching staff na naroon sa insidente sa Aurora noong Hunyo 8 kung saan nasawi ang mga student-athletes na sina Rene Baterbonia at Divine Adili.
Sa inilabas na pahayag nitong Biyernes, sinabi ng UAAP na inaprubahan ng Board of Trustees ang hakbang matapos itong irekomenda ng Board of Managing Directors habang nagpapatuloy ang mga imbestigasyon ng mga ahensya ng gobyerno, Ateneo, at ng liga mismo.
"As such, they are prohibited from participating in any UAAP-related activities, in any capacity, effective immediately and while these investigations are being conducted," ayon sa UAAP.
Hindi naman tinukoy ng liga kung sinu-sino sa coaching staff ang sakop ng naturang pagbabawal.
Ayon pa sa UAAP, ang hakbang ay isang preemptive measure upang mapanatili ang integridad ng imbestigasyon at matiyak ang transparency at due process habang masusing sinusuri ang mga pangyayari sa trahedya.
โThis preemptive measure, adopted even prior to the UAAP season, is intended to preserve the integrity of the ongoing inquiry and to ensure full transparency and due process as facts surrounding the incident are being carefully examined.โ
Itinakda rin ng UAAP ang Hulyo 15 bilang deadline para isumite ng Ateneo ang resulta ng sarili nitong imbestigasyon kaugnay ng insidente.
โAmidst differing and clashing perceptions on this tragic incident, the UAAP, as a collegial body, is committed to adhere to its own governing rules and processes where the acts of a Member-University and personalities involved will be thoroughly evaluated by the other member schools before passing judgment.โ
Iginiit ng liga na ang pananagutan ng sinumang sangkot ay ibabatay lamang sa resulta ng masusi at patas na imbestigasyon alinsunod sa mga umiiral na patakaran ng UAAP.
โThe UAAP reiterates that accountability shall be determined based on the results of a thorough and impartial investigation and its fidelity to its own rules and regulations. All those found responsible for any wrongdoing shall be held fully accountable.โ
Patuloy pa rin ang mga imbestigasyon sa pagkamatay nina Baterbonia at Adili habang hinihintay ang mga opisyal na ulat mula sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad at sa Ateneo.
