🔐 BUILD YOUR DIGITAL DEFENSE.
Small habits. Stronger security.
This October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let’s build habits that protect our accounts, our work, and the people who trust us.
Whether you’re a student, employee, business owner, or IT professional, you can take meaningful action today.
Start with these six habits:
🔑 1. Secure your accounts
Use a unique password for every account. A password manager helps you create and store strong passwords without memorizing them all.
🛡️ 2. Enable multifactor authentication
Protect your email, banking, and social accounts. Choose passkeys or security keys where supported for stronger resistance to phishing. Never approve a sign-in request you didn’t initiate.
🔎 3. Verify before you act
An urgent message isn’t proof of a genuine emergency. Confirm unusual payment requests, password resets, or requests for sensitive information through a known contact number or trusted channel.
🔄 4. Keep devices updated
Updates fix security weaknesses. Enable automatic updates for your operating system, browser, and apps where practical.
💾 5. Back up what matters
Keep a protected backup separate from your everyday files. Test that you can restore it. Recovery matters when a device fails, files are deleted, or ransomware strikes.
🚩 6. Report suspicious activity early
Report suspicious messages and unexpected sign-in activity through your organization’s official security channel. If you clicked something suspicious, speak up promptly. Early reporting helps the team respond.
You don’t need to master everything today. Start with one action, then build on it.
