DOLE has issued new guidelines on work suspension during weather disturbances and similar occurrences.
๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐จ. ๐๐, ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ provides guidance for private-sector employers and employees on work suspension, including how wages are handled when work is suspended.
Hereโs what to know:
๐ง๏ธ Work may be suspended by employers to help ensure the safety and health of employees during weather disturbances and similar occurrences, in coordination with the appropriate safety and health personnel.
๐ฐ If work is suspended: Employees generally are not entitled to regular pay for the unworked day, unless a more favorable company policy, practice, or CBA provides otherwise, or the employee is allowed to use accrued leave credits.
โฐ If work is rendered: Employees who work for at least 6 hours are entitled to full regular pay. Those who work for less than 6 hours are entitled to proportionate regular pay.
๐ก๏ธ Employee safety comes first. Employees who fail or refuse to work because of imminent danger arising from weather disturbances or similar occurrences shall not be subject to administrative sanctions.
Employers may also provide additional incentives or benefits to employees who report to work on affected days.
