What are Sunday Scaries and how to beat them?
👉🏻 That weird mix of anxiety, overthinking, and “did I forget something?” that shows up just when you’re trying to relax. It’s the feeling of not wanting to show up at work on a Monday because you are already overwhelmed just by the idea. 🥹
Feeling the Sunday Scaries even when you actually like your job? You’re not alone.
As a team, let’s try to make Mondays feel a little less “oh no” and a little more “okay, I’ve got this.”
Here are a few simple things we suggest doing to beat the Sunday Scaries and start the week with more motivation:
✅ Friday “reset” – 10 minutes to close tabs, tidy up, and write our “Top 3” priorities for Monday so our brains don’t spin all weekend.
✅ No big new tasks late Friday – if it can wait, it goes to next week with a clear plan.
✅ Quick calendar peek on Sunday – just enough to avoid surprises, not enough to ruin the whole day.
✅ One easy win for Monday morning – a small, doable task to build momentum.
✅ Kinder Mondays – as much as possible, fewer heavy meetings first thing and at least one focus block to actually get work done.
✅ If you’re a Team Leader or Manager, set a Monday Recap with your team. A productive Monday recap sets the tone for the week by fostering alignment, acknowledging wins, and removing roadblocks.
Feeling anxious on Sundays doesn’t mean you’re weak or unmotivated, it just means you’re human. If we can make Mondays even 10–20% kinder, and that’s a big win. 💬
