Whatโs new in iOS 26
1. Liquid Glass design
โข A big visual redesign with a transparent, glass-like look across the system: app icons, controls, menus, lock screen, etc.
โข Effects like refraction, translucency, dynamic appearance changes.
2. Apple Intelligence / Visual Intelligence / Live Translation
โข Live Translation of text in Messages, live captions in FaceTime, even translation of calls in the Phone app.
โข Visual intelligence: being able to act on what you see on screen (e.g. screenshot then search, or extract info, etc.).
3. Messages & Communication improvements
โข Group chats get things like polls, customizable backgrounds.
โข Better spam / unknown caller screening: you can ask callers to say who they are and why theyโre calling before it rings.
4. CarPlay updates
โข Safer & more usable CarPlay design, improvements like widgets, Live Activities, tapbacks in CarPlay.
5. Apple Music & Wallet etc.
โข Lyrics translation + pronunciation in Apple Music.
โข Order tracking in Apple Wallet.
โข Maps adds โVisited Placesโ.
6. New Apple Games app
โข A dedicated gaming hub to unify your game library, help discover new games, etc.
7. Adaptive Power / Battery improvements
โข A new mode (โAdaptive Powerโ) that reduces performance in subtle ways (lower brightness, slower tasks) to extend battery life when needed.

Supported Devices & Compatibility
โข iOS 26 supports iPhones with the A13 chip or newer โ starting from iPhone 11 and up. Older models like iPhone XR, XS, XS Max are not supported.
โข Some features may need newer hardware or chips for full experience (e.g. translation, performance features).

What to Watch Out For / Trade-Offs
โข Visual changes (Liquid Glass) are big; may take some getting used to, especially with readability/transparency. Some adjustments were made in betas to improve legibility.
โข New features may be region-dependent or language-limited at first.
โข The update is large; backup first, ensure enough storage space, and install over reliable WiFi/while charging.
