I conceptualized a (prototype) RESPONSIVE and INTERACTIVE FLAG with AI, called "PLAGPLAG"

👉 Demo: https://plagplag.vercel.app

Notes:
📌 Recommended to open in an external browser(outside FB).
📌 Some 3D assets are experiencing rendering issues.
📌 Some features may experience issues and lag on devices.
📌 This is for prototyping and personal use only.

In the final of a three-part series, TJ Pitre explains how a diagnostic layer closes the design-code gap and powers AI-ready systems

🅾️ USABILITY CATASTROPHE 🅾️
If you are conducting a heuristic evaluation of a user interface usability, what is considered a "CRITICAL" usability issue that prevents users from using the website chat window or proceeding to the next steps?

This is a really good example of a usability catastrophe, not just a vanity issue.

📌 ISSUE:
I had an internet issue and am requesting an explanation from this company about the cause of the interruption.

The chat box overlaps with the form below, which you need to submit to proceed to the next step of the diagnostic process, since it asks for your account number.

I tried multiple ways to tap that submit button to proceed to the next step, multi-touch, hoping to time the appearance of the submit button when I scroll down the chat box. I restarted the conversation and redid the step, as it may have been a glitch. But it really prevents me from using the website.
..........................................................

☝️Please avoid these mistakes and review your chat experience in the mobile app before shipping/deploying.

Now this recording has become my test subject when discussing good and bad design.

Since it’s 🐇🥚✝️Easter Sunday, I can now share this: it’s my personal custom illustration, created entirely in 🟦Photoshop from scratch, and it's less than half a gigabyte. However, this is an older piece of artwork.

Occasionally, I still miss creating 🖼️custom art. I want to point out that satisfaction levels vary when you do something from scratch or when it’s your own work, compared to when you use AI. You can still find satisfaction in AI-generated work somehow, but you’re becoming a hybrid creator, producer, and director, and that’s okay.

I still encourage my 👨🏻‍💻 mentees to practice art and design on their own now and then and to take a 🗓️ short break from AI at least once in a while, so they won’t forget the joy and fulfillment of creating art.

I recently tried using Replit and participated in the Mobile App Buildathon for the first time. After seeing others use this AI app, I was curious and decided to try it myself.

Over the past year, as I focused on staying healthy, I became increasingly curious about the products I buy, their ingredients, and the marketing strategies used to make them more appealing to consumers. I wanted to become more aware and informed about these factors.

Initially, as a health-conscious individual, I wanted to build this app for personal use. When I discovered the Mobile App Buildathon, I saw it as an opportunity to further develop the app, learn to use Replit, and explore its various use cases in my work.

I already had a vision for the app, although the design is still a work in progress and currently exists as a prototype on TestFlight. One unique aspect of my journey is that I was traveling while working on this project, often having to choose between exploring new places and building the app.

I had no prior technical knowledge of how Replit integrates with the App Store. Still, I appreciated how the platform simplified most technical tasks, making them easy for someone without a mobile development background to follow. The workflow from ideation to building, publishing, and testing was surprisingly smooth.

Here are some key lessons I learned throughout this journey:
1. You have to be strategic with your prompts and structure them well.
2. Plan out carefully your deployment and have a build cycle.
3. Always test your app because sometimes AI misses some functionalities.
4. Start with something simple at first and build gradually from there.
5. Technical knowledge is important as it becomes your tool in crafting a good prompt. Because bad prompts will cost you.
6. Patience is essential, as is adapting to the conversational workflow and learning how to effectively guide the AI.

I want to present my first mobile app, Label Lens, built on Replit.

❇️ 📷 CAMERA EVOLUTION 📸 ❇️
I captured what seems to be an evolution of camera technology in a single frame.

From a bulky, traditional, and complex to setup camera to a compact, digital, and one-click shot smartphone.

Nowadays, you can generate photos with AI using a single prompt.

It is fascinating how technology has evolved over time, and witnessing another technological transition in this generation is truly satisfying.
Can someone identify what type of camera and model this man is holding?

✳️ Biomimicry in Design ✳️

Biomimicry is one of the most interesting topics in design. I'm deeply invested in it because I'm both curious about and fascinated by how humans draw inspiration from nature. It encompasses a variety of applications that can be seen almost anywhere from architecture to product design, and sometimes we may not even realize that certain designs are inspired by the natural world.

In the photo below (zoom to the right photo), one of the 🏢 buildings in Central 🇹🇭 Bangkok mimics the appearance of a 🌵 cactus, which I also photographed in Thailand. How amazing is that?

Here are a few examples of Biomimicry in Design:
❇️ Velcro (inspired by a Burdock plant)
❇️ Shinkansen bullet train (inspired by a Kingfisher)
❇️ Building ventilation systems (inspired by Termite mounds)
❇️ Self-cleaning surface coatings (inspired by Lotus leaves)
❇️ Wind turbine blades (inspired by Humpback whale fins)

As a designer and naturalist, I feel inspired and curious about the world around us.
BTW, Biomimicry is an approach that seeks to solve human challenges by emulating nature's patterns, strategies, and systems. Biomimicry simply means "copying nature's good ideas to solve human problems."

✴️ Anglerfish ✴️

When I transitioned from traditional arts to digital illustration over a decade ago, the Anglerfish was one of the first creatures I created from scratch, just purely for fun and practice. At one point, I placed this artwork on my merchandise.

Then, a viral video showcasing a rare deep-sea Anglerfish seen on the ocean's surface for the first time has made headlines these past few weeks, bringing back memories of my previous cutesy illustration.

As someone who once aspired to be a Marine Biologist, I am fascinated by wild and bizarre deep-sea creatures, from Vampire Squid to Barreleye Fish. During this time, the Anglerfish captured my attention, and I fell in love with its unique anatomical structure. This prompts me to create a funny illustration scene, switching off the lights.

🇰🇷 Kimchi Museum 🇰🇷

I can't believe a museum exists in South Korea🇰🇷, and most Koreans I talked to don't even know it exists. Kimchi itself is a huge subject matter in food.

CNN selected Museum Kimchikan as one of the World's Top 11 Food Museums, along with the Dutch Cheese Museum and Udon Museum in Kyoto, Japan.

The museum has an interactive display, installation arts, an exhibition hall, a Kimchi-making class, and other multimedia facilities that tackle the history and science of Kimchi.

For those interested, here's their website:
https://www.kimchikan.com/en

For Klook users:

On a side note, we can replicate the food museum in the Philippines, where we explore the historical and scientific part of our Filipino food, and it would be interesting to have one.
