Story 8: From Chalkboard to Digital Classroom

How has digital technology reshaped the classroom experience over the years?

In our latest story, Mrs. Ma. Lilia Mortiz, a veteran Araling Panlipunan teacher at Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati, Inc. (DBTIM), shares how she seamlessly transitioned from traditional teaching to a fully digital classroom using Genyo e-Learning.

Since DBTI Makati adopted Genyo back in SY 2009-2010, Ms. Mortiz has leveraged interactive features such as Forums and Lesson Packages to spark student engagement, streamline assessments, and make learning more impactful. Her story is a testament to how passion for teaching combined with modern educational technology can transform education.

Discover how seasoned passion meets digital innovation in Mrs. Mortiz’s full reflection, exclusive on the Genyo Newsroom.

Story 7: Transforming the School's Learning Culture

When Genyo was introduced to Academia de San Isidro Labrador (Talamban, Cebu City) in 2018, Mrs. Relyn A. Rojo – Corbita was still a teacher and adviser. Eight years later, she now serves as the school’s Basic Education Principal and Genyo remains an integral part of their teaching and learning journey.

The school’s story is more than just one of technology adoption. It is a story of teachers who became learners themselves, embraced new ways of teaching, and grew together with their students. Along the way, their school community saw teachers become Genyo Top Users, Gawad Gurong Genyo awardees, and even regional and national Teki si Titser winners.

For her, Genyo’s greatest impact goes beyond digital tools and learning analytics. It has helped strengthen a culture where innovation and faith work hand in hand, empowering teachers to grow and enabling learners to develop not only in knowledge, but also in character.

Discover how Genyo became a gift and an instrument in their mission of evangelizing education, and how it helped transform the school's learning culture. Read her full story on the Genyo Newsroom.

Story 6: Learning Without Limits

For an honor student and student leader, there are times when responsibilities, class disruptions, unfavorable weather, or simply having difficulty understanding a lesson make it challenging to keep up.

For one student, Genyo became that second chance to learn.

Whether she missed a lesson because of her responsibilities or needed to revisit a topic she didn’t immediately understand, Genyo gave her the freedom to go back, review, and learn at her own pace.

For 20 years, Genyo has been part of countless learning journeys—helping learners move forward, one lesson at a time.

Because education doesn’t stop when the classroom does. And neither should learning.

Story 5: Teaching Beyond Four Walls – Learning Filipino Through the Power of Play

Filipino isn’t just a language we have to learn. It’s a language that connects us to who we are. What if learning it felt like an adventure?

For one Filipino teacher, Genyo e-Learning helped turn language lessons into an engaging experience through interactive games, quizzes, and activities. With Genyo’s Diwa Game Builder, learners who once felt hesitant about speaking Filipino became excited to play, practice, and learn, often returning to the activities on their own time to strengthen their reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills.

More than making lessons fun, this approach helped build confidence, mastery, and a deeper appreciation for the Filipino language. As the teacher saw, sometimes, the key to helping learners embrace a language is to give them a new and exciting way to experience it.

Read how Ms. Reyna Marie Cabillas, a Filipino teacher from Pagadian Golden School Learning Center in Zamboanga Del Sur transformed Filipino lessons from something learners feared into an adventure they looked forward to. The full article can be found on the Genyo Newsroom.

Story 4: Before the World Went Online: A Journey of Readiness and Resilience

For Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC) Basic Education, more than a decade with Genyo has been a journey of learning, adapting, and growing together. What began as an early step into digital learning became valuable preparation when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted education—and a reminder that technology is only one part of significant transformation.

As the school reflects on its Genyo journey, it shares an important lesson: the platform mattered, but so did the teachers who were willing to learn, the parents who patiently adapted, the students who embraced change, and the reliable partner who walked alongside them.

Read Saint Louis College’s story of readiness, resilience, partnership, and transformation, written by Mr. Danilo D. Romero of Saint Louis College, on the Genyo Newsroom.

Story 3: The Future Innovators

At Diwa, we believe every student has the potential to create, innovate, and inspire. That’s why programs like the I Am a Cyberhero Challenge give Genyo students a platform to turn their ideas into meaningful action.

For Lance Nicholo E. Tan of FAITH Catholic School, winning the challenge was more than earning a title. It was about discovering the power of a young person’s voice to create change.

Through their winning project, Eco-Tinig, Lance and his team encouraged responsible consumption—from supporting ukay-ukay to being more mindful of fast fashion and moving away from a throwaway culture.

Lance’s experience taught him that innovation doesn’t always have to be complex. Sometimes, it starts with a conversation, a better habit, or simply the courage to speak up.

His story reminds us that students aren’t just future leaders: they can be creators, innovators, and changemakers today.

Read Lance’s full story on the Genyo Newsroom, and discover how you can become a future innovator through this year’s I Am a Cyberhero Challenge. Keep an eye on the Genyo and Diwa pages for the contest mechanics and call for entries.

For Kimberly E. Desingaño, LPT, MAEd of The Mabini Academy of Lipa, being a teacher means never ceasing to learn—and never being afraid to evolve.

Through Genyo e-Learning, Ms. Desingaño transformed her Effective Communication class into a dynamic, student-centered Career Conversation Series, using digital tools to connect lessons with authentic communication situations and her students’ chosen career paths.

From interactive activities and multimedia resources to reflection, collaboration, and real-time feedback, Ms. Desingaño designed a classroom where students became active learners and confident communicators.

Her story shows that reinventing the classroom doesn’t mean changing what it means to be a teacher—it means expanding what a teacher can do.

And Ms. Desingaño is just one of the many Genyo teachers nationwide and overseas who are finding creative ways to reinvent their classrooms through technology.

Discover Ms. Kimberly E. Desingaño’s full story on the Genyo Newsroom.

In celebration of Genyo e-Learning’s 20th year, we bring you 20 stories of triumph, creativity, and innovation–stories of educators, learners, and schools that continue to shape the future of education.

These are their stories. These are 20 Stories of Shaping Education.

The Early Adopters

Twenty years ago, when classrooms still largely relied on manila paper, cartolina, blackboards, chalk, and overhead projectors, The Canossa School, Inc. (TCSI) was already looking ahead.

As one of Genyo e-Learning’s pioneer schools, TCSI embraced technology early–not simply to modernize the classroom, but to enrich learning while staying true to the heart of Canossian education: the holistic formation of every learner.

For two decades, TCSI has shown that technology and holistic formation can go hand in hand. Tools may change, classrooms may evolve, and learning may become more digital, but the heart of education remains constant.

Discover how one of Genyo’s earliest adopters has grown with us while keeping the heart of education at the center.
