The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has set a โฑ1-billion minimum capital requirement for thrift banks, rural banks, and cooperative banks that are offering end-to-end digital services or shifting toward digital bank-like operations.
BSPโs new rules ensure that banks adopting digital delivery models have the financial capacity, risk management systems and governance standards expected of digital banks.
Domestic banks planning to scale digitally must evaluate their operations and prepare to meet these enhanced requirements.
