IITC is an open community that evolved in a social site called Facebook it's a social network structure made up of individuals and organizations that was influenced by the language and culture of Iloilo and shared a common interests in information technology, which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency. Open Community is "a diverse group of people, bonded by a commo

n interest in an industry and an organization, who care enough to contribute and cooperate online for the good of the group." This definition was first suggested by Maddie Grant, CAE and Lindy Dreyer in their 2010 book, Open Community. The term reframes the concept of online community to focus on people, not tools, and to encompass the myriad ways and places that people associate online using social tools. According to Grant and Dreyer, organizations who wish to build an Open Community must adjust their strategy, structure, and culture in five important ways:

1. Develop into a social organization.
3. Embrace the open community ecosystem.
4. Let participants define engagement

The Department of Science and Technology- Information and Communications Technology Office, in partnership with the Philippine Software Industry Association, is conducting the 2015 Philippine Startup Challenge – a national student startup competition that aims to involve academic institutions in the college level from all-over the country.

Now on its 2nd Year, the Challenge dares the youth to create and promote bolder, more creative technological innovations that solve real life problems. In preparation for the Challenge, We will be conducting the Lean Startup 101 Bootcamps in the different regions to ensure that students and mentors are equipped with the necessary tools and skills to efficiently build their own startup.
