“Who still uses WordPress anyway?”

I recently saw this question in a Facebook group. I wanted to reply, but I wasn’t interested in starting an argument.

The simple answer is: millions of businesses still use and trust WordPress.

In fact, WordPress currently powers around 40% of all websites on the internet. That is not the sign of a platform nobody uses. It remains one of the most widely used content management systems in the world.

Why do business owners still choose it?
✅ They own and control their website
✅ They can easily update and expand it
✅ It supports SEO, eCommerce, booking systems, and custom features
✅ It is backed by a massive global community
✅ They are not locked into one AI website builder or platform

I’m not against AI. I use AI, and I believe it can make website projects faster and more efficient when used properly.
But generating a website in a few minutes is not the same as building a website around a business’s customers, goals, services, SEO strategy, and conversion process.

The better question is not:

“Who still uses WordPress?”
It is:

“Which platform gives the business the ownership, flexibility, and long-term value it needs?”

For many business owners, the answer is still WordPress.

Many business owners still don’t realize how important a website is to their business.

They often ask:

“Should I have a website?”

“Do I really need one if I already have a page?”
The simple answer is yes.

Your page is useful, but it should not be your entire online presence.

Think of social media as rented space. You can build an audience and share updates, but the platform still controls your reach, content, and account.

Your website is a digital asset your business owns.

SOCIAL MEDIA VS. YOUR WEBSITE
❌ Algorithms control your reach
✅ SEO helps customers find you
❌ Posts quickly disappear
✅ Your services remain visible
❌ Visitors see competing content and distractions
✅ Your website keeps the focus on your business
❌ Limited control over your page
✅ Complete control over your brand and content
❌ Limited inquiry options
✅ Quote forms, bookings, chat, and automation
❌ You are building on someone else’s platform
✅ You are building a long-term business asset
Social media helps people discover your business.

Your website helps them understand your services, see your work, trust your company, and become potential customers.
Use social media to get attention, but give your business an online home you actually own.

If you still rely only on social media, you already know who to call when you’re ready for a website built to generate leads.

Another website redesign project completed! 🎉

What started as a simple Squarespace website has now been transformed into a professional, conversion-focused WordPress website for a custom millwork company.

The goal wasn’t simply to make the website look better. It was redesigned to clearly present the company’s services, showcase its real craftsmanship and completed projects, build trust, and encourage potential clients to get in touch.

And yes, this is not an AI-generated concept or a fake portfolio project. It’s a real website created for a real client.

I’ll be sharing the complete case study soon, including the problems with the old website, my redesign process, and a closer look at the finished project.
Stay tuned!

People see freelancing and think:
Work from home.

Choose your own hours.

Be your own boss.

And yes, those are some of the benefits.

But what people don’t always see is everything happening behind the scenes.

Freelancing is basically running a business by yourself.

You’re not just the web designer.

You’re also the salesperson trying to find the next client.

The marketer creating content and building your personal brand.

The project manager making sure everything gets delivered on time.

The customer support person answering messages.

The accountant keeping track of invoices and payments.

And sometimes, you’re the person wondering:
“Where is my next client coming from?”
There are months when projects keep coming.

There are also slow periods when you have to keep showing up even when your inbox is quiet.

You pitch.

You follow up.

You post content.

You improve your portfolio.

You learn new skills.

You work on SEO.

You talk to prospects.

Then, when you finally land the project, you still have to actually do the work.

That’s the side of freelancing people don’t always talk about.
After years of doing this, I’ve realized that being good at WordPress, web design, or SEO is only part of the job.

You also have to learn how to build trust, communicate with clients, market yourself, manage your time, and keep going when business is slow.

There’s freedom in freelancing, but that freedom comes with responsibility.

No boss is telling you what needs to happen next.

You have to figure it out yourself.

And despite all of that?

I still choose it.

Because there’s something rewarding about building your own name, helping businesses grow, and knowing that every client, project, referral, review, and result is another brick in something you’re building for yourself.

To every freelancer building their business one project at a time, keep going.

What’s the hardest part of freelancing for you?

DON’T HAVE A WEBSITE YET?

You’ve done the hard part.

You’ve completed the projects.

You’ve built homes.

You’ve transformed spaces.

You’ve delivered work your customers are proud of.

So why keep your best work buried in your phone gallery?

**Don’t just tell people what you do. Show them.**

Your website should give potential customers a place to see your work, explore your services, read your reviews, and get a feel for the quality you bring to every project.

Your work is already your proof.

**You did the work.

Now let your website flex it.**

And when you’re ready to put your work online...

You already know who to call. 😉

One of the best messages you can receive after completing a project isn’t:

“Great website.”

It’s this:
“Hey. I have someone else who wants a website done for his cabinetry business. How can I refer you?”
This came from a client I **recently completed a website project for**.

I didn’t ask for a referral.

He simply had a friend who owns a cabinetry business and needed a website, and he felt comfortable enough to recommend me.
Honestly, that means a lot.

When I work with contractors and cabinetry businesses, I’m not just focused on making a website look good.

I want the website to properly represent their work, communicate what makes them different, build trust with potential customers, and make it easier for people to take the next step.

A referral like this is one of the best compliments you can receive because it means the client was happy enough with the work and experience to put their own reputation behind your name.

**Good work gets noticed.

Good relationships create referrals.**

So if you know a home service business or contractor who needs a website that convert, you know a guy who can do it.

That guy is me. 👋

JUST DONE: A PERSONAL CHEF WEBSITE 👩‍🍳

I recently completed a website project for Chef Janice Catering and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Yes, I’ve been specializing in **contractor and home services websites**, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped accepting projects from other industries.

Actually, working with different niches is where I started.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with businesses across many industries, helping them build websites that look professional, communicate their value, and make it easier for potential customers to take action.

So if you’re a **personal chef, caterer, restaurant, consultant, professional service provider, or business in another niche**, I’m still open to website projects outside of contractors and home services.

And to my client, thank you for trusting me with your website. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with you. ❤️

And yes...

**This isn't an AI-generated website. 😉**

It was strategically designed and built for the business, its audience, and its goals.

Have a website project in mind?

Send me a message. I'd be happy to chat.

Did you know an outdated copyright year on your home services website could be costing you leads?

It might seem like a small detail, but something as simple as © 2023 on your website in 2026 can quietly hurt your credibility.

Whether you're a contractor, construction company, roofer, plumber, electrician, HVAC company, painter, landscaper, or remodeling business, homeowners expect your website to show that you're active and professional.

An outdated footer can make visitors wonder:

🚩 "Is this company still in business?"
🚩 "Do they still maintain their website?"
🚩 "If they overlook this, what else are they neglecting?"

Trust is everything in the home services industry.

When homeowners aren't confident in your business, they're less likely to:

✔️ Request a free estimate
✔️ Call your business
✔️ Fill out your contact form
✔️ Book your services

The good news? It's an easy fix.

✅ Set your footer year to update automatically every year.
✅ Use a year range like © 2019–2026 to show your company's history.
✅ If you can't automate it yet, it's better to remove the year than leave an outdated one.

Your website works 24/7 to attract new customers.
Don't let one overlooked detail make your home services business look inactive.

Take 30 seconds today and check your website's footer.
What year does yours show?

5 Years and Counting. 🎉

Five years ago, I earned my Upwork Top Rated badge.
At the time, it felt like a milestone. Looking back now, I realize it was just the beginning.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to work with businesses from different parts of the world, helping them build websites, improve their online presence, and generate more leads. Along the way, I've learned that staying Top Rated isn't about getting one badge. It's about consistently delivering quality work, communicating well, and earning the trust of every client.

Today, my focus has become even clearer.

I help contractors and construction companies build websites that don't just look good, but actually bring in calls, quote requests, and new business.

To every client who trusted me with their business, thank you. Your support has made this journey possible.

Here's to five years of being Top Rated... and to many more years of learning, building, and helping businesses grow.

Your Construction Company Doesn't Have a Website? You Could Be Losing Projects Every Week.

Many construction companies still rely on referrals to get new work.

And referrals are great.

But here's what happens next.

Before calling you, most people search for your business online.
If they can't find a professional website, they'll often contact another contractor who has one.

Your website is no longer just an online brochure. It's one of your most valuable business tools.

Here's why every construction company should have a professional website:

✅ Build Trust Before the First Conversation
A modern website shows potential clients that you're a legitimate, established business. It gives them confidence by displaying your services, completed projects, testimonials, licenses, and certifications.

✅ Showcase Your Best Work
Photos of completed projects help clients see the quality of your workmanship. A website lets you present your portfolio professionally and explain the value you delivered on each project.

✅ Get Found on Google
When homeowners and businesses search for contractors in their area, your website gives you the opportunity to appear in local search results and attract new leads.

✅ Stay Competitive**
Your competitors are already investing in their online presence. Without a website, you're missing opportunities before potential clients even speak with you.

✅ Save Time and Generate Better Leads
Your website can answer common questions, explain your services, list your service areas, and collect project details through quote request forms, helping you spend more time on qualified prospects.
The bottom line?

✅ A professional website doesn't just make your business look good. It helps you build trust, attract more qualified leads, and win more projects.

If your current website is outdated, slow, or not generating inquiries, it may be costing you business without you even realizing it.

If you want a high-converting website that helps your construction company generate more leads and win more projects, send me a message. I'd be happy to help.
