The 7th Cybersecurity Conference, by the University of Luzon College of Computer Studies, came to a meaningful close with powerful insights and shared responsibility toward building a safer academic digital environment. ๐๐ Held on January 29, 2026 at the 3rd Floor UL Library, the event highlighted the importance of Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) and Data Privacy in the Academe, bringing together experts, educators, and learners in one productive space.
The program opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Angel S. Reyna, followed by the inspiring Event Introduction of Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, setting a clear direction for the discussions that followed. The conference was headlined by Dr. Elizalde Duran, whose talk encouraged participants to rethink trust in academic digital systems and how institutions can responsibly manage information in an evolving cyber landscape.
Adding depth to the conversation, Mr. Robert Paguia shared practical perspectives drawn from real-world cybercrime coordination, reminding everyone that awareness and prevention remain our first line of defense. This was complemented by Mr. Ramil B. Oribia, who emphasized responsible handling, processing, and storage of personal data, reinforcing the importance of legality and protection in todayโs data-driven world.
The discussions were further enriched by the MIT CS faculty presenters. Prof. Andrew C. Caronongan underscored the role of risk management in academic institutions, while Prof. Rina V. Cabansag highlighted how personal data represents oneโs identity and the need to ensure that it remains secure and under oneโs control.
