Amen..
People may remember your past, but Jesus remembers your worship.
The alabaster box represents a life poured out in worship.
In the Bible, the woman broke the alabaster box and poured the costly ointment on Jesus. That act was not just perfume... it was love, surrender, sacrifice, humility, and worship.
Best Representation
The alabaster box represents:
1. A broken life offered to Jesus
The box had to be broken before the fragrance came out. Sometimes, the sweetest worship comes from a heart that has been broken but still chooses to come to Jesus.
2. Costly worship
The ointment was expensive. She did not give Jesus what was cheap or convenient. She gave something valuable. True worship costs us something...pride, time, comfort, reputation, or treasure.
3. A heart that ignores people’s criticism
People criticized her, but Jesus defended her. This teaches us that not everyone will understand your worship, your sacrifice, or your tears...but Jesus does.
4. Repentance and love
In Luke 7, the woman washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. Her actions showed deep repentance, gratitude, and love.
5. Preparation for something greater
Jesus said in Mark 14 that she had anointed His body beforehand for burial. What others saw as waste, Jesus saw as prophetic worship.
The Learning
The greatest lesson is this:
Give Jesus what is most precious before life breaks it anyway.
The woman teaches us that Jesus is worthy of our best, not our leftovers. She did not come to impress people. She came to honor the Lord.
Powerful Thought
The alabaster box teaches us that when a broken person pours their best on Jesus, the fragrance reaches heaven.
People may remember your past, but Jesus remembers your worship.
