Question: What are some of the key challenges and considerations when implementing microservices?

Answer: Infrastructure governance is one of the biggest challenges in microservices. Managing multiple services across different business domains, handling data ingestion through events, and maintaining reliable communication between services require strong architectural knowledge.

In this discussion, we explore the code behind **event-driven architecture**—how events are published and consumed, how data is ingested, and how services can be decoupled through events. Proper observability, security, data ownership, and deployment practices are also essential to keep the system reliable and maintainable.

Before adopting microservices, make sure the architecture and its operational complexity are well understood. Not every application needs microservices. For simpler systems, a Modular Monolith or Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) may be a more practical and cost-effective choice.
