There was once a beggar who wandered from town to town, living on scraps and small acts of kindness. He never stayed long in one place. He was always searching—though he wasn’t sure for what. Maybe for purpose. Maybe for belonging.

One day, he came across a place people called the “land of golden opportunities.” There, someone let him in out of the cold. They gave him a warm bowl of soup, a soft blanket, and a bed where he could finally rest. It was the first real comfort he had felt in a long time.

But the next morning, before anyone woke up, the beggar quietly left. He didn’t know how to stay. He only knew how to keep moving.

Time passed, and his wandering continued.

Her words stayed with him. For the first time, the beggar realized that maybe he didn’t have to wander forever. Maybe someday, when he was ready, he could choose to stop and rest—not just for a night, but for good...

Naglakad ako sa Baguio at napadpad sa Ililikha Artist Village, where I came across a group of performers rehearsing for the upcoming Gong Festival 2025. It was my first time to be this close to truly see, feel, and listen as they moved and played in rhythm, felt like being invited into a living story of sound and movement.

As I observed, I noticed how their dancing and chanting share certain similarities with some indigenous practices in Mindanao. Their gongs, however, caught my attention—the instruments here don’t have the protruding k**b we often see in Mindanao’s kulintang or tangunggu, which produce more melodic tones. Instead, these gongs are struck on both sides, front and back, creating a deep, resonant beat that seems to echo through the mountains.

This remind me that to deepen our understanding as Filipinos, we must explore the diverse practices across our islands. In doing so, we begin to realize how much we share—rhythms, instruments, movements, and the spirit that binds us together.

In the end, our rich culture and traditions are very diverse even before we were colonized. Usa kini ka panaghiusa sa atong mga kasaysayan, tingog, ug kalag. Let’s learn, unlearn, and embrace our collective identity. 🇵🇭

Math is not just about numbers; it is a way of understanding the world and thinking logically and creatively. For instance, 𝟏 + 𝟏 = 𝟐, but so does 𝟎.𝟓 + 𝟏.𝟓 or 𝟐 + 𝟎. Even if the combinations differ, they all reach the same result. When we treat x as a variable, then x + x = 2 shows that there are multiple ways to arrive at the same answer.

This simple mathematical concept reflects how people approach real-life problems. There is rarely only one correct approach. Yet, we often get stuck believing that our own method—our version of “1 + 1”—is the only right one. When others prefer “2 + 0,” we may see it as wrong rather than just different. Math teaches us that even with varied methods and inputs, the goal can remain the same. Likewise, in life, cooperation and open-mindedness allow us to reach shared goals through diverse approaches.

Conflicts often arise not because people have different goals, but because they insist on different ways of achieving them. Imagine a team trying to reach the same target value of 2.
One person uses 1 + 1, another prefers 2 + 0, and a third opts for 0.5 + 1.5. Each approach is valid, but disagreements occur when individuals argue that their method is the “best.”

If everyone worked together—(𝟭) + (𝟬.𝟱) + (𝟬.𝟱) + (𝟬)—they would still reach 2, combining their strengths instead of dividing them. This can represent how human collaboration could work. When people refuse to listen to others’ perspectives, they lose the opportunity to combine ideas and create better solutions. Instead of unity, ego and misunderstanding lead to division.

Like math, life rewards those who see value in every variable. True progress happens when we integrate different inputs—different minds—to achieve a common outcome.

The patterns seen in math are also found in nature, art and music, reminding us that the universe operates through rhythm, balance, and harmony. A tree grows toward sunlight following a predictable mathematical pattern—its branches divide and expand in geometric sequences. Similarly, music follows mathematical timing and ratios: rhythm, tempo, and harmony are all expressions of numbers and fractions.

Just as humans thrive when united by understanding and cooperation. By recognizing that math, nature, and music share the same patterns, we begin to see that logic and creativity are not opposites. They are partners, helping us appreciate the diverse yet harmonious design of the world.

Math is more than computation. It teaches us to reason, to see patterns, and to value balance. Whether in problem-solving, teamwork, or art, the lesson remains the same: there are many paths to arrive at the same goal, and by respecting each path, we build harmony not just in problem-solving, but in humanity.

But then I wonder tho… if humans are the most intelligent species in this waking world—blessed and burdened with the power of will—why is it that our pattern seems to lead toward division and destruction?

Why do we, who can calculate stars and compose symphonies, struggle to protect the very home that sustains us?

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭.

When I joined the creative scene, I noticed something that made me sad —
Many people only see talent as real when it comes from big cities or other countries.

There’s still a strong belief that things from outside cities or even from abroad, are more valuable.
Why can’t we support and lift up our local artists while they’re still here?
Why do we need outsiders to see the value of our own people before we support them?

How do we break free from colonial mentality and cultural inferiority?
Can we build stronger communities, support systems, or movements that don’t need outside approval just to feel valid?
Why do we believe we are "less" just because we come from smaller places?

This shirt reminds me of where I started.
I still hope for the day when we don’t have to leave our hometown just to be seen.

Last year was just the first step.
I’m still here 🙃
