Job Title: IoT Hardware Engineer (LoRaWAN / IoT)

Jr: P50,000 - P70,000
Senior: P80,000 - P150,000
Job Description:
As an IoT Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of the hardware systems that power our LoRaWAN-based sensor projects. You will work closely with software engineers to ensure hardware compatibility with the embedded systems and optimize the overall performance of the sensors. Your role will be critical in ensuring that the sensors are robust, low-power, and reliable for real-world urban deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and develop hardware components for parking sensors and IoT devices.
- Select appropriate microcontrollers and other key components based on system requirements, including low-power design considerations.
- Integrate various sensor technologies (e.g., ultrasonic, infrared, magnetic) into the hardware designs
- Collaborate with embedded software and firmware teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
- Work on PCB design, layout, and optimization, ensuring compliance with electrical and environmental standards.
- Design and implement wireless communication modules using LoRaWAN, ensuring stable and secure data transmission over long distances.
- Optimize hardware for low power consumption and battery life, ensuring sensors can operate in the field for extended periods without maintenance.
- Conduct hardware testing, debugging, and validation, ensuring reliability and performance under various environmental conditions.
- Work with external vendors for component sourcing and manufacturing of hardware prototypes and final products.
- Participate in product testing, including field testing and certification processes for compliance with regulatory standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A graduate of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience in IoT hardware development, specifically in the design and development of embedded hardware for low-power IoT devices.
- Experience with microcontroller platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32).
- Strong knowledge of sensor technologies (ultrasonic, infrared, magnetic) and their integration with microcontrollers.
- Expertise in PCB design using tools such as Altium, Eagle, or similar.
- Experience with LoRaWAN, BLE, or Zigbee for wireless communication, with a focus on low-power, long-range applications.
- Strong understanding of power management techniques and battery-powered IoT devices.
- Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design and debugging techniques.
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with wireless communication modules and antennas for long-range applications like LoRaWAN.
- Familiarity with edge computing concepts and integration of edge devices with cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in designing products for mass production and collaborating with contract manufacturers.
- Familiarity with hardware security measures, such as encryption at the hardware level.
