The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) has come under heavy public criticism over a series of recent fatal shooting on unarmed civilians and widespread police brutality. One area not yet tapped by the Department of Police is to equip and encourage the Police Force to utilize modern technology to leverage their crime combat efforts. That includes use of teasers, stun guns, gathering intelligence from CCTV, plate number recognizing cameras and body worn cameras to aid in investigations, capture and fast-tract prosecution. Teasers are less lethal alternative to guns and camera equipment works 24/7 to gather intelligence and immediately alerts a bailiff (enforcement officer) as soon as there is a hit (found an offending vehicle or driver). Also, gadgets like the body camera is known for reducing police brutality and restore trust in the force.
