Nambawan Savings and Loan Society has launched a new modern banking system aimed at improving savings and loan services for members across Papua New Guinea.

NSLS Chief Executive Officer John Solok says the system upgrade is a major step towards making services faster, easier and more reliable for members.

Mr. Solok says under the new system, members can now access real-time balance checks, allowing them to instantly view the amount of money in their savings accounts.

There’s a funny bit of truth behind one of the internet’s best manufacturing jokes.

Some “Made in China” stickers may not actually be made in China at all.

Many labels and stickers are produced by specialist printing companies, and South Korea has a strong reputation for high-quality adhesive labels, packaging labels and durable sticker printing.

So it is completely possible for a product to be made in China, while the tiny sticker saying “Made in China” comes from somewhere else.

Global manufacturing is that complicated.

The product might travel through several factories, suppliers and countries before it reaches a shelf.

And somehow, the strongest part of the whole thing is still the sticker.

The product says “Made in China.”

The sticker says, “I was built to survive generations.”

Bank South Pacific [BSP] Financial Group Limited will fully deactivate all magnetic stripe cards by the end of June as part of a major security overhaul to combat card cloning.

We believe that, regardless of which bank a customer or merchant uses, customers should be able to transact freely.

We wish to advise that some BSP-issued chip debit cards are currently unable to be used on Kina Bank EFTPOS machines, ATMs, and certain online payment platforms. This restriction was not caused by Kina Bank and is not due to any operational or technology limitation imposed by Kina Bank.

Our bank has always supported an open and fully interoperable banking system, where customers are able to use their cards across all banks’ EFTPOS terminals, ATMs, and online payment platforms in Papua New Guinea and internationally.

We are working constructively with regulators and key stakeholders to support a timely resolution that restores full access for customers and merchants.
