💬 LET’S TALK — because not everything that looks “small” is actually free.
Running a print business involves a LOT more than hitting “print.”
When you ask for a mockup, that takes time. The design has to be created or prepared, a mockup has to be made, the design has to be digitally placed onto it, then it has to be watermarked, saved, sent, posted, etc.
That’s why design fees exist.
When you ask for a sample print, even if it’s small, it still uses ink, film, powder/materials, equipment and my time.
That’s why even small prints may not cost much — but they still cost something.
And gang sheets? 👀
If I build your gang sheet for you, I’m not just dragging pictures onto a page.
I have to make sure each file is the correct format, check for unwanted backgrounds, size everything correctly, and then play a professional-level game of Tetris trying to fit everything efficiently onto the sheet. 😂
That is EXACTLY why I provide a FREE gang sheet builder.
You can upload your designs, size them, arrange them and build your sheet exactly how you want it — without paying me to do that work.
If you want me to upload, prepare, size and arrange your individual designs, then they are charged as individual files, not at the bulk gang-sheet rate.
Because at that point, you're not only purchasing printing.
You're purchasing my time.
And there are a hundred other things customers don't necessarily see:
Emails.
Texts.
Phone calls.
Website management.
Posting and staying active online.
Packing and shipping orders.
Managing customer pickups.
Helping find orders when someone's name is quite literally printed on the package but somehow we are still on a scavenger hunt. 😂
Keeping a shop organized.
Putting things back where they belong because apparently merchandise enjoys migrating on its own.
Checking customers out.
Answering questions.
Staying late.
Cleaning.
Ordering supplies.
Maintaining equipment.
And yes... even helping people who bought their OWN printers and call me asking how to operate, troubleshoot or repair them. 😭😂
I love helping people. I love what I do. And I do a LOT for my customers that I don't charge for.
But not everything can be free.
A small charge isn't always about how much ink, film or material something used.
Sometimes you're paying for the 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or hour of someone's work that it took to make your request happen.
Small businesses don't just sell products.
We sell our time, knowledge, equipment, materials, experience and labor.
And unfortunately, my electric company still refuses to accept ✨good vibes and exposure✨ as payment. 😂
