MFA helps. Security tools help. But scams are getting smarter 🫣

Device code phishing has surged 37x and can bypass MFA, not by breaking it, but by tricking someone into completing the login for the attacker 😬

How it works:
You get a message → go to a real Microsoft login → enter a code → approve MFA

👉 You think you’re signing yourself in… but you’re actually signing the attacker in
Simple rule: If you didn’t start the sign-in, don’t enter the code 🙅‍♂️

❓ Asked to screen share out of the blue. Decline 🙅‍♀️
😬 Pressured to approve an MFA prompt? Deny it ❌
🛑 Stop and ask: Did I just try to sign in 🤔
‼️If not, deny the MFA prompt immediately ‼️
✅Verify using a known number or a separate channel 📲
🚩Report it straight away to our Ultra IT team 🙏

Jokes aside, scammers are getting far more sophisticated in the ways they try to access your personal information. Phishing schemes are a common tool used today, and unlike the obvious bad Photoshop attempts, phishing emails aren’t always so easy to spot!

This major company fell for a deepfake scam - would you?

With deepfakes becoming increasingly sophisticated, it’s a fair question. But what actually is a deepfake, and why is no one exempt from being targeted?

Deepfakes are videos or images manipulated using AI. The tech can train on large volumes of real photos and footage, learn how people move, and even mimic voices - making it appear as though someone is saying or doing something they never did.

AI is incredibly good at emulating people because it’s learned from countless real examples. A recent incident at a major multinational shows just how convincing (and costly!) these scams can be.
