You should probably change your Facebook password today.

In a nutshell, Facebook has found over 400 Apple and Android apps that appear legitimate, but actually steal your Facebook login. If you have downloaded any apps that ask you to "Log in with Facebook" then this is when they strike and steal your password.

Action steps for you:
- Change your Facebook password, make it something UNIQUE please!!!!! Preferably turn on 2 Factor Authentication (more info below on this)
- You need you delete these apps from your phone or tablet. They have been removed from the App stores, but they wont delete automatically if you have installed them.

At Boot I.T. we use all the browsers, everyday, but Microsoft Edge has become our go to browser, even on a Mac. Its fast, has good privacy, and some excellent features. We LOVE the way you can run webs pages like a normal App, the vertical tabs is a great way for seeing your tabs, particularly if you have a widescreen monitor. Check out this article for some good arguments for ditching Chrome and moving to Edge.

Important: Change of Office and Shop Hours

Dear Boot I.T. clients, the past 12 months has been on hard on all businesses, and we have been no exception unfortunately. Due to staffing issues and some substantially increased operating costs we have had to look at the way we do business and staff our office for walk-in I.T. support.

As of the Monday 16th May, our office will only be manned Mondays & Thursdays, 9am-5pm. On these days we can offer walk in I.T. support and sales of laptops, phones, mice, keyboards etc.

Tues, Wed and Fri we will be appointment only, you can book by emailing [email protected], or calling us on 0800 242 266.

We will of course prioritise all urgent requests as per normal and move all work around to accommodate them.

All appointments will be a minimum of 30 minutes for face-to-face or onsite visits, and remote work for a minimum of 18 minutes (PLEASE NOTE: we do not charge for travel time in Whangamata).

If we complete your request in under this time we are more than happy for you to use that time to ask any other questions, receive some IT training/tips/tricks, or simply have us check your backups, security and general computer or phone health.

Apple have released an emergency patch for their mobile devices and Mac computers to patch a new critical security bug that could allow someone to see everything you are doing on your device, and it can infect you without you even clicking on anything or installing anything, they can just send you an iMessage you don't even get to see.
