🔐 Cyber Smart Week may be wrapping up, but cyber security isn't a once-a-year conversation. This week we've learned a few things...

Some of you are confidently using one password for everything, even more of you are frequent users of 'forgot password', and many of you would be keen on a fictional job that comes with a helicopter!

Jokes aside, the week's discussions highlighted an important truth: cyber security isn't just about technology. It's about people, habits, and the decisions we make every day.

Safety first out there:
✅ Think before you click
✅ Use stronger passwords and MFA
✅ For sensitive material – if in doubt, leave it out
✅ Be intentional about how AI is used in your workplace

So remember, if you get a random message from someone that looks like grandma, it could be a wolf in sheep's clothing 🐺

🚨 If you've just received a message from one of our Consultants offering you a role as a Sheep Census Coordinator in Feilding... it's probably a scam. (At least we hope so!)

Hiring scams have become increasingly sophisticated. The obvious spelling mistakes and suspicious email addresses have been replaced with convincing messages, professional-looking profiles, and realistic job opportunities. Sometimes they even use photos of our team.

Unfortunately, scammers sometimes impersonate recruiters, hiring managers, and trusted brands to try and obtain personal information from job seekers.

Before responding to a message, ask yourself:

❓️ Does this role actually make sense for my skills and experience?
❓️Am I being asked for personal or financial information unusually early in the process?
❓️Is there pressure to act immediately?
❓️Have I verified who is contacting me?

The best scams don't look like scams anymore. That's why a healthy dose of scepticism is one of the best security tools you have.
