Our little company, Monkeytronics, makes devices that log air quality in homes. Our customers run from public-health professors who wrote the textbook to parents who just want to know their kid's bedroom isn't freezing. Pulling those worlds together forced me to get four things straight.
Show the same chart to a professor and to a parent, and you get two opposite reactions. Both are right. But I think most home reporting serves neither.
3. A clearer measure is severity x duration i.e. how bad for how long. He Kāinga Oranga measure degree-hours below 18°C: every reading counts by how far under the line it sits and how long it stays there. That isn't a rival to the WHO's 18°C minimum: it's a rigorous way to apply it.
