I'm Duncan — a drummer and lifelong lover of live music.
I've noticed how much musicians can struggle with managing their music as a business, and how time intensive it can be to find and book gigs. I want to help musicians, venues and crew connect. But mostly, I want to kill the horrible admin involved in finding and booking gigs. The endless email chains. The "did anyone reply to that venue?" The setlist scrawled on a beer mat.
So I built an app to fix it and I'm looking for people to try it out. It's the central nervous system for live music, and it's called NRVE (pronounced "nerve").
For bands, it's one place to run your whole music life. Shared calendars so every member knows what's on. Belong to multiple bands and see your entire schedule in one view — no more juggling iCal, Messenger and WhatsApp to wrangle everyone. Create rehearsal schedules. Add gigs. Sell tickets direct to your fans. Build songs and setlists that every member sees the instant you save them. And one shareable band profile that holds everything — your music, your links, your story.
But the real magic happens when venues come on board.
Venues set their availability — the nights and slots they have open for live music — and bands can see those openings and apply in seconds. No more cold-calling, no more chasing, no more wondering who books the place. When a booking's agreed, NRVE generates the performance agreement, both sides sign, and the gig is locked in. The event creates itself in the gig guide. Tickets can go on sale. And after the show, the settlement is waiting for the venue to finish and send — so everyone gets paid without a spreadsheet in sight.
I'm just starting the rollout and I've seen so many facebook posts looking for musicians or venues or just help. We musicians are forced to use things like facebook groups to connect with each other. I have this dream to build the largest global network of musicians and people in the live music community, so we an find each other much more easily. In the process I hope to provide tools for musicians to manage and build their music as a business so they can earn from their craft and hopefully, don't have to get sh*tty day jobs.
If you play, book, or run live music — I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think.
