Our team spends a lot of time with spreadsheets, payroll and Xero, but when we step away from the desk, we love getting out and exploring.

The answer is: it depends.

Things to consider:
✅ Who you're selling to (B2B or B2C)
✅ The GST you could claim on expenses
✅ The extra admin involved
✅ Your ability to manage the money set aside for IRD

From 1 October 2026, Xero is increasing plan prices (excl. GST)/month:

Ignite $37
Grow $89
Comprehensive $117
Ultimate $135

Ultimate plan using Xero Payroll for more than 10 employees, the price for each additional employee will increase from NZ$1 to NZ$2 per employee per month (excluding GST).

Also: Files is now Documents. It's had a capability boost too, with smarter data capture that can automatically extract details and match documents to transactions for you.

You'll now find it under the Accounting menu instead of the Organisation dropdown - your existing files aren't affected, and everyday use stays the same.
