Book Launch Highlights! ✨ (+ last chance for Kiwis to order a signed copy the paperback directly from me)

I had a wonderful time at the book launch of Inner Invitations - a guidebook for growth.

What a strange phenomena of our digital age to write a book with someone and meet them for the first time in person at launch!

A few highlights from the book launch:

* We had a great turn-out. Nolan Hall in Nundah was warmly filled with people who love Lucy and value her wisdom, teaching and spiritual companionship.

* We sold out of books, almost before the launch had even begun!

* Lucy's intention was for a "gracious and spacious" atmosphere and that's exactly what was it was like on the day. Lucy says: One of the Irish sisters I spoke to afterwards said: “I have been to launches before – this was different from all of them. There was a something extra there.”

* I met a woman who had been deeply touched by my music when she was going through a dark time. This was an unexpected grace note! I keep having little encounters like this recently and they are nourishing my desire to keep moving forwards with making my second album - a work in progress.

An excerpt from my speech: exploring the hero's journey.

I had an opportunity to speak about the process of co-writing the book and how valuable I believe it to be for both mature people of faith and for those who identify as spiritual but not religious.

I briefly shared how we used the archetype of The Hero's Journey as a subtle narrative structure for the book as a whole, and as a frame for each chapter. I've been reflecting since on just how aptly this archetype fits this guidebook.

Book tagline: "Dare to go within...an adventure awaits"

* The inner journey is an adventure that is both perilous and promising. It requires courage to face the risks of growth in order to reap the rewards of growth.

* Desire is the impetus that provides energy for the journey. Desire for what? Usually for "more-than" your current experience. Frustration with stuckness, unhealthy patterns or unfulfilled hopes often catalyse a desire for "more healing", "more freedom", "more balance".

* It is part of our human spiritual inheritance to have the capacity for connection with what some would describe as God, Spirit, Love, and what Lucy calls "More-Than-Us" energy - that "vital impulse" within that guides us towards life and growth. This inner reality is the Ultimate Guide on our journey of growth.

* We face obstacles and resistance on our journey towards life and growth. There's no adventure without monsters or challenge!

* In the hero's journey, a relatable Guide always appears to fan the flames of desire and to help the hero/ine to face the challenges, navigate the obstacles and claim the treasure.

* Some people find trustworthy guidance for the journey with therapists, spiritual companions, wise elders, spiritual leaders.

* And sometimes the right book at the right time offers guidance for growth.

That is our deepest hope for Inner Invitations. After all, the sub-title is: A universal wisdom guidebook for nurturing inner balance, healing and freedom. It is a distillation of the wisdom gleaned from Lucy's life work journeying with others on their inner adventures.

We offer it in the hope it will provide trustworthy guidance for you on your own unique journey of following the inner invitations for growth that arise from within you.

A lot can happen in a year! I got married 💕 and co-wrote a book.📖 In this blog post I write about both experiences.

For context: the book is called 'Inner Invitations: A universal wisdom guidebook for nurturing inner balance, healing and freedom. www.experiencelivingpurposefully.com.au

The original material is Lucy Tierney's - a wise, energetic nun in her mid 80's with decades of experience supporting others to discern the inner invitations for growth that arise from within and are unique to each person.

My blog excerpt: "I got married earlier this year (2023) – the fulfilment of a deep desire of mine for many years. I can trace a direct line from that significant milestone to a seven-day silent retreat I undertook in 2017.

At this retreat, a clear invitation arose from within me to allow the energy of desire to become central in my depths and to re-shape my inner vision and outer action. More specifically, it was an invitation to acknowledge how private and secluded my life had become, and to face my deep desire for an intimate relationship - a desire that was mostly buried under layers of fear, pain and self-protection."

Not everyone in my circles will resonate with this language, but for those who do feel drawn to this book - a spiritual growth book for everyone, religious and non-religious alike, I hope it is a gift for your growth.

As paragraphs and pages passed back and forth between us across the virtual Tasman, I had a full immersion baptism into the originality of Lucy’s mind and the deep wisdom she holds. As we prepare to release this book out into the public square, I’ve been reflecting on the fruits I’ve harvested...
