Kelly’s also got a bit of Wholemeal history in the family — her son Matt worked with us for quite a few moons and will forever be one of the old Wholemeal lads!

Julie has been a regular at The Wholemeal Café for as long as i can remember. In fact, many moons ago, her daughter owned a hair salon in what is now the Ice Cream Bar, so Julie has been part of this little corner of Tākaka for decades.

While not every staff will knows her by name, everyone knows her coffee order—a decaf oat milk naked cappuccino! 😊

👩‍🍳 Meet the Team – Joce

This week we're shining the spotlight on Joce our baking extraordinaire, who is currently doing everything in the winter months!

Joss has been part of The Wholemeal Café family on and off for many many many years. She left a couple of years ago and we're so happy to have her back!
She's the talent behind so many of our delicious cakes, slices and cabinet treats, and she's also an incredible caterer.

If you've got a work meeting, birthday, celebration or special event, we'd love to help with the catering. With Joss back in the kitchen, you're in very good hands.

☕ **We're Hiring!** ☕

It doesn't happen very often at this time of year, but we have an exciting opportunity coming up to join our core team at The Wholemeal Café.

With Lidia heading home as her visa comes to an end, we're taking the opportunity to strengthen our Front of House team by creating a role with more responsibility as we head into spring and a busy summer.

We're looking for someone who loves hospitality, thrives in a busy café, and can confidently jump on the coffee machine when needed. Strong barista skills are an essential part of this role.

Ideally, you'll also:
• Have leadership experience and be confident running the FOH on the days our amazing 2IC is off. This will happen after an extensive training period and not expected right away.
• Hold a Duty Manager's Certificate (or be willing to obtain one by the summer season).
• Be reliable, organised, and lead by example.
• Love looking after people and creating a great atmosphere for both our customers and team.

We'll start with part-time shifts to make sure we're the right fit for each other, with the goal of moving into a permanent position from mid-August.

If you're looking for more than just another café job and want to be part of a hardworking team that genuinely cares about great food, great coffee, and looking after our locals and regulars, we'd love to hear from you.
