Distraction is the road risk hiding in plain sight and a key theme for National Road Safety Week, 17 – 24 May 2026.

For fleet operators, distraction isn't just a personal responsibility. It's a business one.
The good news: there are practical steps you can take right now, whether you're just getting started or already have technology in place.

1. Mobile phones remain a fleet risk
Despite large fines and demerit points, drivers are still picking up their phones. Safe in-cab messaging - only accessible when the vehicle is stationary - keeps your team connected without the risk.

2. Speeding can be a sign of distraction
Distracted or fatigued drivers often lose control of consistent speed. In-cab visual and audible alerts help drivers self-correct in the moment, before a speed event becomes something worse.

3. Use AI camera data
Road Safety Week is a great prompt to review your dashcam insights. Which drivers need a coaching conversation? Where is work - calls, dispatch messages - interfering with the driving task?

Safety, precision, driver performance and vehicle optimisation are critical - whether you're a milk tanker operator hauling precious cargo across the country, a fleet manager keeping a team of light commercial couriers on the road, or a rally driver pushing a car flat out through the stages!

That's exactly why supporting the best rally drivers in the country AND our customers every single day is something EROAD is deeply passionate about. It’s also why we’re incredibly proud to be back as naming sponsor of the Australian Car Rally Championship (ARC) in 2026!

Round 1 of the EROAD Australian Car Rally Championship has wrapped and what an absolute statement of a season opener! The stages were fast, the competition was fierce and the talent on display was nothing short of world-class.

But buckle up... this is only the beginning! With 5 more rounds scheduled across Australia, the championship is well and truly heating up.

We’re already counting down the days to Round 2 in Nannup, Western Australia, 22-24 May. The forests of WA are going to be the perfect backdrop for some epic rally action and we can’t wait! See you in Nannup!

Proud 'Road Safety Hero’s', EROAD went beyond the conversation this week and took real action for Road Safety Week.

Here’s how we showed up. We:
• brought customers together for a road safety briefing
• amplified industry and EROAD expert voices on how technology and data are helping to make roads safer
• shared real customer stories and their experiences for improving driver safety with EROAD
• heard from our partners at NZI about the Safe Driver Programme and the impact it's having on driver safety

Our team also wore yellow to support Road Safety Week organisers, Brake, and shared knowledge all week through articles covering fatigue, distractions and passenger safety.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their stories and championed road safety.

Remember, road safety doesn’t stop when the week ends….and neither do we. If you want to know more about our safety solutions, book a demo today >

Driving is the #1 cause of workplace fatalities in Australia and New Zealand.

While Road Safety Week is a powerful reminder, at EROAD, road safety isn't a once-a-year conversation - it's our whole purpose.

Safety is the reason we show up. Safety is what drives every product decision, every data insight and every innovation on our roadmap.

For fleet managers, risks aren't always visible. Blind spots, unreported near-misses and gaps in vehicle visibility all contribute to preventable incidents. That's why visibility by fleet managers matters so much. Not just knowing where fleet vehicles are but, understanding what's happening around them and giving drivers the tools to make better decisions in the moment.

EROAD Clarity Edge Multicam gives you:

• 360° vehicle visibility
• AI-powered risky driving detection
• Driver coaching tools - BEFORE incidents happen

Be a Road Safety Hero. Be part of the solution and help your team get home safely EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Many Australian fleet managers are finding it hard to keep track of changes to Fuel Tax Credit changes. So, here’s what you need to know….

From 1 April - 30 June 2026:
Fuel excise halved - the fuel excise has been temporarily halved, reducing the base excise component.

RUC suspended - the Heavy Vehicle Road User Charge has been temporarily reduced to zero.

With RUC set to zero, heavy vehicles on public roads in Australia can now claim an increased FTC rate, equivalent to the full reduced excise rate.

Good news! EROAD FTC customers don’t need to worry about keeping track - EROAD does this for them and automatically updates rates as and when they change.

What’s more, the EROAD FTC solution means FTCs can be easily and accurately calculated without the costly involvement of expensive external tax advisors, businesses can claw back up to 4 years’ worth of under-claimed rebates and, claim up to 2.5x more for off-road than on-road.

And, unlike most other solutions, the EROAD Fuel Tax Credit report (using Ehubo) is ATO approved and verified.

Ensuring your maximising your FTC rebates - talk to EROAD today to find out more > https://ap1.hubs.ly/y0MWn70

We’re pleased to announce that our latest innovations, EROAD CoreHub Trailer and CoreHub in-cab, have received approval from the NZTA to be used as electronic distance recorders for RUC compliance.

EROAD is the leading electronic RUC provider in New Zealand, handling over 88% of all electronic RUC (eRUC) licenses issued in 2023. As well as reducing the risk of non-compliance, eRUC also reduces admin and can help fleets to maximise off-road refund claims (RUCOR).

The NZTA-approval of CoreHub is significant, as it assures customers that they can continue to rely on eRUC as they transition to EROAD’s next generation hardware.

EROAD CoreHub Trailer will be available for installation from February. CoreHub in-cab will be available later in 2024.

We’re excited to announce that Australian Rally Championship driver Harry Bates will be joining our 12+ speaker lineup at EROAD Fleet Day in Christchurch on 29 February.

And if that’s not enough, we’ve also got speakers from NZ Police, Thundergrid, Turners and more! As well as discussions on fleet safety, our speakers will be sharing insights into fleet efficiency and sustainability.
