A couple weeks ago I nearly walked into a stranger in the supermarket. I said sorry, looked at her properly for about five seconds, and kept shopping. Didn't think about it again.

A few minutes later, she found me again. Pushing an empty trolley. For me. I hadn't asked. I'd basically forgotten she existed.

That five second moment turned into the first episode of a new series I've been working on, called What Love Makes. It's about what actually happens between two people when real contact occurs, not the feeling of it, the thing it produces. Because I think most of what we call connection is actually just transaction, and I think the difference matters more than we've been taught to notice.

New episode of Tiny Tales with Big Truths is live. Link below, I'd love to know what you think.

I nearly sent a message saying I couldn't do it. I drove home crying. The old scripts were loud. You don't belong here. Who do you think you are. And then I remembered something. Five sentences. A protocol I had been building and testing in my own body. This episode is about what happened when I used it inside one of the most exposing creative experiences of my life.

Part 1 of The Shape of Belonging is now available as the first episode of my new podcast, Tiny Tales with Big Truths.

This is the spoken word version only. Because of IP/copyright, the original music performed in the live show is not included in this recording, but the story itself is here, raw and intact.

This first part begins with the school choir, adoption, race, belonging, and the strange ache of not knowing where you fit before you even have language for it.

It feels tender to release this into the world in podcast form, especially after the live performance. Thank you to everyone who has held, witnessed, encouraged, or recognised themselves in this story.

Tiny Tales with Big Truths is coming.
A storytelling podcast about the small moments that open into bigger truths.

The words that shaped us.
The stories beneath the story.
The moments that changed us before we had language for them.

Hosted by Becky Siame.

Every small story is a doorway.

Where do we learn the shape of who we are?

The Shape of Belonging is a live storytelling and music experience about identity, adoption, family, voice, and the invisible places we spend our lives trying to fit.

It’s intimate, honest, funny in places, tender in others, and woven with live music from an incredible local ensemble.

After winning Best Local Show at Nelson Fringe Festival 2026, we’re bringing it back for one special encore performance at The Suter Art Gallery.

Saturday 23 May | 7pm

Come if you’ve ever wondered where you fit.
Come if you’ve ever carried a story you didn’t know how to name.
Come if you’re ready to feel something real.
