When your brand starts to feel restrictive, it can be tempting to add to it.
A new colour for a campaign, another to give your marketing team more options, or something different just to make things feel fresh. But without a clear reason or system behind those choices, you can begin to dilute the recognition you’ve worked hard to build.
Remember, you see your brand every day, but your customers don’t. What feels overly familiar to you may only just be becoming recognisable to them.
As a business grows, its brand needs to be able to grow with it. That might mean expanding your colour palette, defining how different colours should be used or creating a more flexible visual system around the elements that already have recognition and value. Evolving your brand doesn’t always mean starting again.
