Our 3D printer absolutely lost the plot this week and turned a simple print into a full‑blown spaghetti monster. It looked like it tried to reinvent pasta. But honestly, this is the kind of thing we enjoy because it gives us a chance to dig in, figure out what went wrong, and learn something new in the process.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗰.
Whether it is an in‑store repair or a full business system, we take the problem apart, look at every possible fix or upgrade, and put together a plan that makes things better than they were before. We are always waiting for the next thing that tries to stump one of us because that is when the whole team jumps in and starts solving it together.

𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲?

We recently caught a highly sophisticated trademark scam hitting our inbox and our clients' emails. It skipped the usual red flags—there was no gibberish email address, and the website looked professional. It was designed to trigger panic and force immediate, unthinking action.

Here is exactly how we investigated it, and how you can protect your team:

𝟭. 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲
The email appeared to come from a real professional. Because it demanded immediate action, we didn't trust it. Remember the golden rule: Never click links inside a suspicious email.

𝟮. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆
We manually typed the website address into who.is, a free online directory. The domain was less than 30 days old. For an established professional service, this is a massive red flag.

𝟯. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀
We searched the sender's name and company. The top result was a public warning from the real individual on LinkedIn, stating that their identity was being used to run this exact scam.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜
Don't just hit delete. If you receive one of these emails in New Zealand, forward it to [email protected].

This service, run by Netsafe NZ, deploys an AI chatbot to reply to the scammer. The bot uses multiple personas to trap them in a never-ending, time-wasting conversation. Every minute a scammer spends arguing with a bot is a minute they are not robbing a real business.
