Across the submissions, we saw organisations using their people’s skills, time, relationships and expertise to make a difference in the communities around them, often in ways closely connected to their purpose and everyday work.

And the strongest examples went beyond activity. They showed a real connection between their people, the communities they serve and the difference being made.

That’s what stood out in this year’s Community & Regional Impact Spotlight finalists.

Different organisations. Different communities. Different approaches. But a shared understanding that being a best place to work can have an impact well beyond your own workplace.

One password shouldn’t unlock your whole business!

If you or your team are using the same password in more than one place, you’re making a hacker’s job very easy.

Even if your password is really strong, reusing it means one leak could be all it takes.

Make sure you:

✅ Use a different password for every account
✅ Use a password manager to create and remember them
✅ Turn on 2FA wherever you can

How long do you hold your customers’ data for?

Probably far longer than you need to.

Old spreadsheets, customer files, exports you pulled once and forgot about….it all adds up. And if you’re no longer using that data, there’s a good chance you don’t need to be holding onto it.

Set sensible limits for how long you keep different types of records, and make sure you stick to them. This will help protect your customers if there was ever a security breach.

Our team helped out at the Free Haircuts and Other Services for Those in Need event a few weeks ago!

With more than 1,000 people coming through the doors, it was a great opportunity to connect with the community and see so many organisations and volunteers come together to lend a hand.

There were stalls offering everything from free haircuts and car kits to clothing and food donations, helping provide a little extra support to those who needed it.

Our team was there to chat with people about Whānau Link and help get more Southlanders connected and online.

We’ll definitely be at next year’s event!
