📡 On This Day in New Zealand Amateur Radio History
On 7–8 June 1923, Frank Bell (4AA) in S**g Valley and Dan Wilkinson (2AB) in Motueka became New Zealand's first licensed amateur radio operators.
Their pioneering efforts helped lay the foundations for a community that continues to connect people, share knowledge, and support communications across Aotearoa today.
By the end of 1923, more than 40 amateur radio licences had been issued throughout the country.
