If you use the add printer wizard, often the generic IPP printer driver installs, and prints basic pages OK. However, any slightly complicated pages will fail with no further info as to why.
You need to get the correct driver from support brother com in this case, choose the right model and download just the printer driver and scanner for local connection. Run this which extracts it to the same folder as you downloaded to. Copy the path. From the printer properties>advanced, choose New Driver, and paste in the folder location. Select the correct model from the set of printers that the driver covers. Voila. No more issues!
