it’s friday!
a weird night for me with very little sleep from 2am so i got up before my alarm and did some baking as you do!
and then remembered im not really eating baking at the moment so ive taken it to work to put in the staff room… maybe to make up for how zombie-esque i could be later in the day haha!

i’m sure you’re all ready for a weekend! what plans lie ahead?

happy weekend!!!
yesterday morning was a wee bit hectic hence the late catch up for the week 💕
when we had the cafe i’d leave the house at 6am without even thinking about it… yesterday i needed to be at work by 8am to let a builder in and i just don’t know how we used to get out the door at 6am 🤣

on thursday i made a mad scurry to strictly coffee to get some coffee and some filters for my fancy pants coffee before i leave the house. i got there, got the coffee and filters and then realised i should order a coffee to take back to work and the lovely girl who works there said “shall i make an albion coffee?” and oh! my heart exploded 💕
they told me there were still so many people who come into strictly to ask for a coffee like the albion used to make and that made me soooooo happy (and a wee bit sad)

and the coffee tasted like home 💕 🥰
i got back to work, blathered away about it to the boss who used to be an albion regular and went on to have the best afternoon!

so that’s my week!

sorry! i got lost last week!
i worked an extra day at the start of the week and by friday i had no clue what day it was or what i was supposed to be doing 🤣

last weekend we had malachis birthday party but it was at megazone and all i had to do was bring the cake which turned out to be the best plan ever given the way the week turned out!

i’ve accidentally become the assistant manager at toyworld so we’re getting the house back into the swing of working fulltime and balancing all the things… school, sports, dinner etc but it’s going smoothly enough!

what have you guys been up to? anyone ready to find a tropical island to avoid these chilly mornings?! i miss the warmth of the cafe ovens and coffee machine this time of year for sure!

malachi turned 10 on tuesday and he had the best day! his favourite presents were a kids cookbook from my mum and some spicy noodles from his dads workmate 🤣
goodness kids are hilarious!

i’ll pop up a wee pic of him with his cake (if you use you’re imagination you’ll see a frisbee golf bag with coloured discs in it 😂) and then a hilarious accidental picture of my mother in the background… she’s the star of the photo without even realising haha! (you may need to zoom in for full effect 🤣 )

i’ve been working fulltime the last coupla weeks so it’s back to crazy mum organisation but it’s going well so far 💕

i hope your weeks been fab! what have you been up to?

somehow i have had the role of coach and manager of malachis miniball team bestowed upon me this week 🤣 might be time for me to learn some rules coz last year i was just a parent on the sideline with absolutely no clue what was going on haha!

so yup! life is still just as crazy and unpredictable as ever!
though malachi turns 10 on tuesday!! and somehow i need to make a cake without him seeing… i never realised how easy i had it when i could just pop into the cafe to get the kids cakes made. still no clue as to the theme of the cake but ill pop a picture up next friday if it turns out half decent lol

i miss you!
it’s been a weird time and i can never decide if i should keep nattering away on here or not. especially when there’s no yummy baking to taunt you with but i thought it was definitely time i checked in!
life’s been hectic in all the ways it’s always been… chaos just finds me 🤣
though i thought i share a photo of the kids at my sisters wedding over easter 💕 can you believe how big they’ve got?!
the icing on the cake was getting multiple facebook friend requests the day after the wedding so people could tell me how fab my kids were and well behaved! definitely a win!

i’m still over at toyworld causing mischief while yabbering away to anyone who pops in 🤣 can’t stop me from talking haha!

it’s nights like this i really wish i still had a cafe with bench space and two ovens 🤣
tomorrow green island school has a craft market and im currently making a few wee somethings to be sold.
Tania, who worked at the albion briefly and now works with me at toy world, has a stall selling all kinds of crafty things in an effort to fundraise for her daughter to get to japan later in the year so i offered to make some brownies and treats for her to sell. easy!
then malachi comes home on wednesday and presents me with a notice 7:40am thursday letting me know he’s signed up to have a stall at the market hahahaha!
so i’m currently making chocolate crackles for him to sell so he can learn a wee bit about business and marketing and hustling.
hopefully he’s picked up a few things since his albion days when he’d say “what do you want” without a hello or how are you or how’s your day 🤣
sadly i’ve got work tomorrow so his dad is supervising the hustle (sorry not sorry!)

so if you’ve got no plans pop on out to green island school and find a few treats and clever crafts 💕
it should be an awesome day from 10-2:30!

i am officially a mama to school kids!
abyssinia had her first day at school yesterday! it seems like only yesterday that everyone was freaking out while she was still growing in my belly and causing all that stress and trouble!

now i have to work out how to fill 3 days during the school hours when im not working 💕 maybe a few coffee catch ups though i haven’t found a cafe as comfortable as the albion yet.

i hope back to school is treating you all well! the collective sigh of relief is palpable 🤣

an early morning post from my car park just like the olden days (my kids are all about “the olden days” just now 🤣) except i’m off to toy world for stocktake and there’s no coffee to get me going. turns out getting out of the house at 6am just felt like clockwork this morning except i had to pack my lunch and make myself a filter coffee to start the day because i don’t have a fabulous coffee machine to help get the day started!
somehow in the last 6 months since this was my every day routine there’s a lot more traffic on the roads at 6am… it used to be just us driving along watching all the enthusiastic exercisers doing their early morning walk/run/shuffle.

anyways… have the best day! i’ve made some lolly cake to take to work to help with the counting… im pretty sure it will do the trick!

happy new year to my wonderful albion family. 2025 was the most bizarre year on record and it feels weird starting the year with absolutely no clue what it holds. for the last 10yrs i’ve had the cafe and i’ve known what the days looked like. what needed to be baked, ordered, made. it was easy and predicable though a lot of scurrying and juggling and trying to find balance between work and home. and i loved it. i absolutely loved it and i loved seeing you all and hearing about your lives, both the highs and lows!

2026 is unknown which is scary and exciting. i’ve got no idea what’s in store for me and that’s okay. i’m enjoying my wee job at toy world and spending heaps more time with the kids. i’ve got some ideas for the year but we’ll see what happens coz id never have guessed things would’ve turned out the way they did last year.
i still desperately miss the fabulous coffee and wonderful community the cafe had but it’s always so lovely to bump into some of you while im out and about 💕

a wonderful friend surprised me today with the most thoughtful birthday gift i may have ever seen… a model of the cafe and i wanted to share it with you all! now when we walk past the cafe and it looks nothing like it used to i’ve got the most perfect reminder of the best 10 years of my life.
i opened it, promptly burst into tears and said “it’s my house!”

so i guess this is the longest way of saying happy new year! may 2026 bring joy, peace and prosperity to us all. may dreams come true and may we be brave enough to step out and follow our dreams 💕

thank you for all the fabulous memories and i look forward to seeing you all out in the wild some time soon!
