Today’s breakfast was held in loving memory of Kevin McRae, a truly valued member of our team. Kevin never missed a chance to enjoy a networking breakfast, and this morning we honoured him with plenty of laughter, and a shared meal together - just the way he would have liked it. 🥐☕️

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Kevin McRae. Although Kevin was only with ProSouth for a short time, he had already made a positive impact on the business, both personally and professionally. Several ProSouth staff had known Kevin for many years through previous roles, while others came to know him through his extensive involvement with Dunedin BNI. His wisdom and humour will be greatly missed in the ProSouth offices. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who knew and cared for him.

Welcome back to 2026. We're back on deck this week in Dunedin, and next week in Balclutha. Some of our staff are still lucky enough to be on holiday, and will be back in the office over the next few days. Emails, phone calls and Teams messages are being answered as normal!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from ProSouth! We are closed until 5th January (Dunedin) or 12th January (Balclutha). We have an emergency after hours service available over this break, charged at our after-hours rate (minimum charge one hour). Please call our usual number to speak to an engineer, or leave a message which will be attended to on Jan 5th.

There is an increase in scam calls every year around this time, and this year we are even aware that the scammers are pretending to be from ProSouth. If you are unsure, hang up on them. You are welcome to call us back to confirm.

A few things to keep in mind:
- Our caller ID will always be from a New Zealand number - starts with +64 or 03 or 027, 022 or 021.
- We are very unlikely to call you outside of normal working hours, unless you're a contracted business customer with 24/7 coverage, and even then it will only be in an emergency.
- Our staff list is at https://prosouth.co.nz/about/team/ so you can double-check the name calling you.

Christmas is coming up fast! ProSouth will close at midday on December 23rd. Dunedin will reopen at 8.30am on the 5th January, and Balclutha at 8.30am on 12th January.

We will have on-call engineering support available throughout the break at after-hours rates. As our team will also be taking a well-earned rest, we kindly ask that you only use this service for urgent issues that can’t wait until we return.

Following a government contribution of $50,000 today, the Clutha District Mayoral Relief Fund is now open to accept donations from the public.

Any person or organisation wishing to donate to the Clutha District Mayoral Relief Fund can deposit funds into the 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 bank account 𝟎𝟑 𝟏𝟕𝟑𝟒 𝟎𝟎𝟔𝟏𝟖𝟓𝟏 𝟎𝟐. When making a donation please use the reference “𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝”.

The fund has been established in response to the devastating effects of Thursday’s severe winds weather event.

Clutha District Mayor Elect Jock Martin says Clutha’s emergency response team has been receiving an overwhelming amount of offers to help from locals and the wider public, and the Fund offers a straightforward way to channel that support.
“The generosity, ahora and compassion coming from Clutha’s people has been in full display over the last few days and this fund allows us to provide relief and support to the people that need it most.

“The effects of the weather event will be felt well beyond the declared State of Emergency. We are in for a long haul ahead, with a long recovery period expected.”

All contributions from the local community and those outside of the region would be greatly appreciated.
