Fifty-one flights of stairs, 1,103 steps, 25kg of gear, and more than $12,200 raised for charity.

We’re proud to be an event partner of the 2026 Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge, helping fund vital blood cancer research, raise awareness, and support patients and their families.

Last month, Matthew Dell, Tait Communications’ Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator, joined more than 1,102 firefighters to take on the challenge. He completed the climb in an impressive 14 minutes and 31 seconds while wearing 25kg of firefighting kit, along with a Tait P25 Multiband TP9800, C-C550 Speaker Mic (RSM), and m-View Matrix 2 Plus body worn camera.

“From the internal challenge to fundraising, training with local firefighters, promoting the event and taking part on the day, it was an incredible opportunity for a great cause.

The event staff and firefighters were so welcoming and thankful, and the atmosphere on the day was absolutely amazing.”
– Matthew Dell

In New Zealand, eight people are diagnosed with blood cancer or a related blood condition every day. This year, the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge raised an incredible $2,518,774 for Blood Cancer NZ, up from $2 million in 2024.

We’re proud to support an event that honours the first responders who serve our communities and makes a meaningful difference for families affected by blood cancer across New Zealand.

Thirty years ago, we were honored to welcome Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to our Christchurch headquarters. It was truly a special day for our founder, Sir Angus Tait, and everyone in the facility. 👑

This visit in 1995 remains a proud moment in our history, one that continues to remind us of the excellence and vision our company was built on.

: Keeping Christchurch Attractions connected

From Cathedral Junction to the top of the Port Hills, our team recently stopped by some of Christchurch's most iconic attractions to see how Tait radios keep operations running. 🚋

Across the tram network, TP9300 radios keep everything moving. Drivers stay in constant contact with the office, other trams and the ticket sales stand to keep schedules on track, and coordinate bookings with Punting on the Avon for a seamless experience across attractions.

Up at the Christchurch Gondola, radios connect teams at the top and bottom base stations, keeping operations safe, efficient and connected.

It's great to see our radios out and about, helping deliver memorable experiences for visitors and locals in Christchurch. 🏔️

The Sky Tower Firefighter Challenge is just around the corner and we recently held an internal challenge to decide who would represent Tait at the event. 🚒💪

Chris, Matthew, Surintan and Dion put themselves to the test across our Christchurch campus in a series of physical challenges that showcased determination, agility and plenty of competitive spirit.

Congratulations to Matthew Dell, who will now take on the Sky Tower’s 1,103 steps in full firefighter gear on Saturday 23rd May to support Blood Cancer NZ and help raise awareness for blood cancer research and patient support.

As a partner of the challenge, we’re proud to support an event that honours the first responders who serve our communities and helps make a difference for families affected by blood cancer in New Zealand.

This International Firefighters' Day, we recognise the men and women who work together in the most demanding and high-pressure situations to help keep us all safe, any time, anywhere. We also remember and honour those our communities have lost in the line of duty.

We’re proud to support first responders with reliable, clear communication when it matters most.

: Earth Day Edition 🐾

We recently spotted a Tait radio at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve in Christchurch, a New Zealand leader in conservation.

When you're working across a busy reserve caring for kiwi, kea, tuatara and everything in between, knowing you can reach your team instantly keeps people safe and the work running smoothly.

This Earth Day, we're celebrating the people doing important work to care for our planet. We're proud to help keep them connected. 🌍
