Messages like this remind us why we do what we do.

Not because the conversations are easy, but because they're important.

Thank you to every parent who chooses to show up, learn, ask questions, and stay engaged in their young person's digital world.

We're grateful to have shared the evening with so many families in Nelson and to play a small part in supporting these important conversations.

What a fantastic few days in Nelson.

We were encouraged by the incredible community turnout at our parent presentation hosted by Richmond New Life Church.

A huge thank you to the team for their hospitality and for helping bring people together for such an important topic.

One parent shared this feedback after the presentation:
"Just wanted to say your session last night in Nelson was super insightful. I'm really glad I got the chance to attend. Also, it was very eloquently delivered - you're an awesome speaker and very easy to listen to. Thanks so much for coming up to Nelson and thanks for doing this mahi - so important!"

Encouragement like this reminds us why these conversations are so important.

The following evening, we also had the privilege of speaking at Thrive Youth's combined Tasman-wide youth event. It was fantastic to see so many young people from across the region come together for a night of learning, connection, and encouragement.

Thank you to Richmond New Life Church, Thrive Youth and the wider Nelson-Tasman community for the warm welcome.

We're grateful for every opportunity to support parents, equip young people, and continue these important conversations across Aotearoa.

What might you learn if you asked this today?

Don't wait for the difficult conversation.

Build the connection that makes it possible.

Let's be their first choice, not their last.

One of the best parts of what we do is hearing directly from young people about the difference these conversations are making.

Recently, Brett had the opportunity to speak at Rage in the Waikato, a youth event, and was encouraged by the engagement. Even more encouraging were the youth who came up afterwards to share how a previous Tāima Kōrero presentation had stayed with them and influenced the way they think, talk, and make decisions online.

These moments remind us why this work matters. Every conversation has the potential to make a lasting impact.

Ngā mihi to the young people who shared their stories with us. Your voices encourage us to keep showing up and doing this important work.

A big thank you to Aotearoa Gaming Trust for supporting our work.

Because of support like this, we’re able to keep showing up in communities across Aotearoa helping parents, caregivers and young people navigate the realities of growing up in a digital world.

We’re grateful to have organisations alongside us who see the value in open conversations, connection and prevention-focused education.

Two thirds of kiwi young people have never talked to a parent or caregiver about p**n.

If we're not talking, they're learning somewhere else.

What they see online, doesn't stay online.

Exposure to online s*xual content is influencing young people's attitudes, expectations, and behaviours in NZ.

The good news? Open, ongoing conversations can make a real difference.

Start the conversation early. Keep it open.

Not every conversation about p**n has to start with a big lecture.

Sometimes the most effective approach is simply creating space for your child to talk.

Try starting with:
“Have you ever had stuff pop up online that you weren’t actually trying to see?”

It’s low pressure, non-judgemental, and acknowledges the reality that a lot of online content appears unintentionally.

The goal isn’t to have one perfect conversation.
It’s to make talking feel safe, normal, and ongoing.
