2025 was a year of momentum for Geo AR Games.
We travelled to conferences, shared our work, listened closely, and learned from researchers, developers, councils, and communities around the world. We ran game jams to build confidence with new tools, especially AI, and to create space for curiosity. Onward into 2026!

It's already more than a week since NZGDC, our favourite conference of the year. So inspiring to be surrounded by what we believe is the most friendly, diverse and unique game community in the world. This year’s energy was incredible with amazing news about the progress of the game industry in New Zealand. Our team shared three talks close to our hearts:

Miranda Verswijvelen introduced her model for game narrative design to evoke emotion and empathy.

Melanie Langlotz and Tyrone Mills explored data security in virtual and mixed reality applications.

Carol Taka and Natasha Verhoeven shared their experience in the development of Cat Angels Triumph, our educational cat-care game that turns compassion and responsibility into playful learning.
